BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Patriot League announced the 2022 All-League teams in men's and women's swimming and diving Wednesday following last weekend's Patriot League Championships at Lejeune Hall at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Navy's men's and women's teams placed a combined 31 student-athletes on the All-Patriot League teams.
A total of 74 student-athletes earned All-League laurels – 36 on the men's and 38 on the women's side. The men's and women's All-League teams are each made up of 18 swimmers and divers before ties.
The swimmers and divers who place first in individual events at the Patriot League Swimming and Diving Championship automatically qualify for the All-League first team, while runner-up finishers are guaranteed at least a second-team spot. Both teams are completed based upon overall points compiled during the championship. For example, a second-place finisher can move up to the first team if they accumulated enough points during the meet and the first-place finishers do not fill the 18 spots on the first team. Only individual points count toward all-League accolades.
Thirty-one Midshipmen were named to the All-League team with 12 on the men's teams (seven first-team, five second-team) and 19 named to women's teams (nine first-team, 10 second-team). Army West Point checks in second with a total of 17 student-athletes earning honors, with 11 on the men's side (five first-team, six second-team) and six on the women's (one first-team, five second-team). Bucknell placed 14 student-athletes total on the All-League team, six on the women's side (four first-team, two second-team) and eight on the men's side (four first-team, four second-team). Loyola Maryland had four All-League members listed with three on the men's teams (two first-team, one second-team) with one on the women's first-team. Boston University saw three female student-athletes earn All-League laurels, as one earned first-team and two captured second-team recognition.
