Field Set for 2022 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Basketball Championship (3.2.22)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Holy Cross has earned the number one seed in the 2022 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Basketball Championship when the 2021-22 regular season concluded on Wednesday night. This year’s championship gets underway on Saturday, March 5 with two first-round contests.
 
American enters the tournament as the two seed, while Boston University sits at No. 3 and Bucknell takes the No. 4 spot. The top four seeds will all host games in the quarterfinal round.
 
Lehigh rounds out the top five, followed by Army West Point (No. 6), Lafayette (No. 7), Navy (8), Colgate (9), and Loyola Maryland (No. 10).
 
The Patriot League semifinals are scheduled for Thursday, March 10 followed by the championship game on Sunday, March 13. The championship game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, while the first-round, quarterfinal and semifinal rounds will be streamed on ESPN+.

WORCESTER, Mass. –  The Holy Cross Crusaders earned the top seed in the 2022 PenFed Credit Union Women’s Basketball Championship after defeating Boston University 59-48.
* The Crusaders were led by senior guard Avery LaBarbera with 24 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.
* Sophomore guard Bronagh Power-Cassidy added 13 points while Oluchi Ezemma scored nine.
* BU freshman guard Alex Giannaros led the Terriers with 15 points, followed by junior guard Sydney Johnson (13) and junior forward Maren Durant (10).
* Durant also pulled 10 boards for her fourth double-double of the season.

* The Bison players in double figures included sophomore guard Julie Kulesza (16), freshman forward Isabella King (15), freshman guard Cecelia Collins (14), senior guard Taylor O’Brien (14), and freshman forward Remi Sisselman (10).
* Senior guard Marly Walls led the team in assists (8) and blocks (5).
* Colgate was led by freshmen guards Morgan McMahon with 17 points and Taylor Golembiewski with 14 points.

*Loyola Maryland junior guard Bri Rozzi and freshman forward Lex Therien both scored 12 points

WASHINGTON, D.C. – American earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Patriot League Championship with a 62-48 victory versus Lafayette.
* American sophomore forward Emily Johns scored a game-high 19 points, followed by senior guard Emily Fisher (14) and senior guard Jade Edwards (13).
* Edwards added 10 rebounds and three assists for her second double-double of the season.
* Lafayette freshman guard Abby Antognoli, senior forward Naomi Ganpo and junior guard Jessica Booth all scored 10 points apiece.
* Ganpo pulled down a season-high 20 rebounds.

LEHIGH MOUNTAIN HAWKS (19-10, 11-7 PL) 64 at NAVY MIDSHIPMEN (8-20, 5-13 PL) 42

ANNAPOLIS, Md. –  Lehigh was led by freshman guard Kaylee Van Eps with 15 points in the Mountain Hawk’s 64-42 win at Navy.
* Junior forward Frannie Hottinger netted 13 points while sophomore guard Mackenzie Kramer chipped in 12 points.
* Hottinger also grabbed 11 rebounds.
* Navy sophomore Sydne Watts finished the game with 16 points and seven rebounds.
* Senior guard Jennifer Coleman recorded 11 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists and two steals.
