No. 1 Colgate and No. 2 Navy Advance to the 2022 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Basketball Championship Game

Raiders down Mountain Hawks; Midshipmen outlast Terriers during men’s basketball semifinal-round

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – No. 1 Colgate and No. 2 Navy advanced to the 2022 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Basketball Championship Game after capturing wins in Sunday’s semifinal round on CBS Sports Network.
 
The top-seeded Raiders defeated No. 4 Lehigh, 81-61, to win their 14th straight game and advance to the title game for the fifth-consecutive season. The second-seeded Midshipmen outlasted No. 3 Boston University in a dramatic 85-80 overtime victory. Navy will play for the Patriot League Championship for the first time since 2001.
 
Jason Knapp will handle play-by-play duties, Mo Cassara will provide analysis and Jenny Dell will report from the sideline when live coverage begins on CBS Sports Network at 7:30 p.m. Westwood One will also carry the national radio broadcast of the championship game with Tom McCarthy and Tim Welsh on the call.

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Fifth-year guard Jack Ferguson led four Raiders in double-figures with 17 points to help No. 1 Colgate defeat No. 4 Lehigh, 81-61, to advance to the 2022 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Basketball Championship Game and win their 14th straight game.
*Ferguson connected on 4-of-7 from the floor and 4-of-5 from 3-point range to help Colgate make the title game for the fifth-consecutive season.
*Senior guard Tucker Richardson finished with 16 points, six boards and four assists, and junior center Keegan Records added 12 points and five boards.
*Sophomore center Jeff Woodward came off the bench to contribute 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and three blocks for the Raiders. 
*Lehigh freshman guard Keith Higgins Jr. led the Mountain Hawks with 17 points, while fifth-year guard Marques Wilson added 11 points, six rebounds and five assists.
*Senior forwards Jeameril Wilson and Nic Lynch scored nine points apiece for the Mountain Hawks.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Senior guards John Carter Jr. and Greg Summers combined for 12 points in overtime, leading No. 2 Navy to an 85-80 victory over No. 3 Boston University to advance to the Patriot League Men’s Basketball Championship Game for the first time since 2001.
*Carter Jr. scored 19 of his 21 points after halftime, including a pair of 3-pointers in the extra frame. He matched a team-high six boards to lead the Mids to their third win over the Terriers this season.
*Summers tallied 21 points off the bench, including two three-point plays in overtime. He also added six rebounds and five assists.
*Junior forward Jaylen Walker scored 13 points off the bench to help the Mids’ reserves outscore BU’s bench, 43-13.  
*Graduate student guard Javante McCoy hit a pair of 3-pointers in the final nine seconds of regulation to send the game to overtime at 68-68. He would add 10 points in overtime to match his career-high of 30 points.
*McCoy previously scored 30 points in a win against Loyola Maryland in the 2019 Patriot League Championship First Round.
*Graduate student forward Sukhmail Mathon, the Patriot League Player of the Year, finished with 14 points and six rebounds, while junior guard Ethan Brittain-Watts added 13 points.
