HAMILTON, N.Y. – No. 1 Colgate withstood a second-half run by No. 2 Navy to claim a 74-58 victory in the 2022 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Basketball Championship Game. The Raiders punched their ticket to the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament for the third time in four seasons and the fifth time in program history.
Fifth-year guard Jack Ferguson led five Raiders in double-figures with 17 points to collect Patriot League Championship Most Valuable Player honors and a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Ferguson also finished with five rebounds, five boards and two steals. Senior guards Nelly Cummings and Tucker Richardson also made the All-Tournament Team after posting 15 and 12 points, respectively.
Navy senior guard Greg Summers and John Carter Jr. were also selected to the All-Tournament Team after helping the Mids go on a 16-0 run midway through the second half to close a 22-point deficit to six points. Summers finished with 18 points, eight boards and three steals, while Carter Jr. added 10 points and five rebounds.
Boston University graduate student guard Javante McCoy rounded out the all-tournament squad after totaling 56 points in two games, including matching a career-high 30 points in an overtime loss at Navy in the semifinals.
The Raiders will learn their NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament fate on Sunday, March 13, during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show at 6 p.m. ET on CBS.

*Ferguson connected on 4-of-6 from the floor, 2-of-3 from deep and 7-of-8 at the foul line to capture tournament MVP honors and lead the Raiders to an NCAA Tournament berth for the third time in five years.
*Senior guard Nelly Cummings and Tucker Richardson added 15 and 12 points, respectively, to join Ferguson on the all-tournament squad. Sophomore center Jeff Woodward added 12 points and eight boards in the Raiders’ win.
*The top-seeded Raiders shot 66.7 percent from the field and 50 percent from long distance to open a 40-22 lead at halftime. Senior guard Oliver Lynch-Daniels went 4-for-4 from the field and 2-for-2 from 3-point range to score all 10 of his points in the first half.
*The Mids responded in the second half, using a 16-0 run midway through the frame to cut the Raiders’ 22-point lead to six points, at 58-52.
*Colgate regained momentum down the stretch, outscoring Navy 16-6 the rest of the way to clinch the title and extend its winning streak to 15 games, currently the third-longest in NCAA DI.
*Senior guard Greg Summers led Navy with 18 points, eight rebounds and three steals, earning him a spot on the all-tournament team. Classmate John Carter Jr. added 10 points and five rebounds to join Summers on the squad.
*Junior forward Tyler Nelson finished with 11 points and six rebounds for the Mids.
*Navy outrebounded the Raiders, 41-26, while holding an 18-2 edge on the offensive glass.
