Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week Announced (5.2.22)

American and Loyola Maryland each claimed two weekly honors; Lehigh receives one

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – American and Loyola Maryland both claimed two of the five Patriot League women’s lacrosse weekly awards when the League office announced the final set of regular-season honors on Monday. Lehigh garnered the remaining accolade.
 
American graduate student attack Emma Vinall earned Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Attacker of the Week honors for the first time after finishing with nine goals, two assists and six draw controls in the Eagles’ 16-12 win over Boston University to clinch a berth in the Patriot League Championship for the first time since 2013. Freshman Maddy Spratt earned rookie of the week honors after combining for five points and three ground balls in two games.  
 
Loyola Maryland senior Shay Clevenger earned her first Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week after picking up five ground balls and causing two turnovers in the Mids’ regular-season-title clinching win against Navy. Graduate student goalkeeper Kaitlyn Larsson received her third goalkeeper of the week honor after making 11 saves and holding Navy to a season-low five goals.
 
Lehigh junior midfielder Emma Eberhardt was named Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Midfielder of the Week for the first time after totaling seven goals, two assists and 12 draw controls to help Lehigh split a pair of games, including an 11-9 win against American.  
 
American graduate student midfielder Kendall Goldblum, Army West Point junior attack Kathleen Sullivan and sophomore goalkeeper Lacey Bartholomay, Colgate junior midfielder Cara O’Reilly, Lehigh sophomore goalkeeper Hayley Hunt, Loyola Maryland graduate student midfielder Elli Kluegel and graduate student attack Livy Rosenzweig, Navy senior defender Alexis Ball and senior attack Reagan Roelofs all received honorable mentions for their performances last week.

PATRIOT LEAGUE PLAYERS AMONG NCAA LEADERS
*Lehigh junior attack Gabby Schneider is fifth in NCAA DI with 2.62 assists per game.
*Boston University junior midfielder Jennifer Barry is fourth in the nation with 9.25 draw controls per game.
*Holy Cross senior attack Jolie Creo is 14th in NCAA DI in goals per game (3.64) and ninth in points per game (5.36).
*Loyola Maryland graduate student attacker Livy Rosenzweig is 10th in the nation with 85 points and 21st with 54 goals.
*Loyola Maryland graduate student goalkeeper Kaitlyn Larsson is second with an 7.94 goals-against average (GAA), while Navy sophomore goalkeeper Jo Torres is seventh in NCAA DI at 8.64.
*Lehigh sophomore goalkeeper Hayley Hunt is second in the nation in save percentage (.548) and second with 193 saves. Torres and Larsson are tied for eighth in NCAA DI in save percentage (.500).
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE TEAMS IN THE POLLS
Patriot League regular-season champion Loyola Maryland placed seventh in this week’s ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Top-25 Poll, released on Monday morning. The Greyhounds defeated Navy to conclude the regular season 9-0 in League play and 16-1 overall. Army West Point and Navy are receiving votes in this week’s poll.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE ATTACKER OF THE WEEK
Emma Vinall, American, Gr., Attack, Fairfax, Va./W.T. Woodson
*Vinall registered 13 points on 10 goals and three assists in addition to 10 draw controls and five ground balls during the Eagles’ 1-1 week.
*She finished with a career-high 11 points on nine goals and two assists, along with six draw controls and four ground balls to help American defeat Boston University, 16-12, to secure their first postseason berth since 2013.
*She finished with one goal, one assist, four draw controls and a ground ball in a loss at Lehigh on Monday.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE MIDFIELDER OF THE WEEK
Emma Eberhardt, Lehigh, Jr., Attack/Midfielder, Sharon, Mass./Sharon
*Eberhardt finished with nine points on seven goals and two assists to help Lehigh go 1-1 last week, including a win against American. She also finished with 12 draw controls.
*The junior midfielder stuffed the stat sheet with four points, one assist, seven draw controls, one ground ball and one caused turnover in an 11-9 victory over American last Monday.
*She finished with three goals, one assist and five draw controls in a loss at Colgate in the regular-season finale.

PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Shay Clevenger, Loyola Maryland, Sr., Defender, Woodstock, Md./Marriotts Ridge
*Clevenger led a Greyhounds’ defensive unit that held Navy scoreless for the final 49 minutes of play in a 13-5 win to clinch the Patriot League regular-season title.
*The senior defender finished with five ground balls and three caused turnovers.
*Clevenger and the Loyola Maryland defense held the Mids to a season-low five goals and just 23 shots.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Kaitlyn Larsson, Loyola Maryland, Gr., Goalkeeper, Garden City, N.Y./Garden City
*Larsson made 11 saves and held Navy to a season-low five goals in a 13-5 victory to help the Greyhounds clinch the Patriot League regular-season title.
*The Garden City, N.Y. native held the Mids scoreless over the final 45 minutes of play, making nine saves through three-consecutive shutout quarters.
*Larsson leads the Patriot League and is second in NCAA DI with a 7.94 goals-against average.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Maddy Spratt, American, Fr., Attack/Midfielder, Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury
*Spratt recorded five points on two goals and three assists, while picking up three ground balls and causing one turnover in the Eagles’ 1-1 week.
*She had one goal and two assists in American’s 16-12 victory over BU to clinch their first berth in the postseason since 2013.
*She finished with one goal, one assist, two ground balls and a caused turnover in a loss at Lehigh last Monday.

*Goldblum led American with five points on three goals and two assists in a loss at Lehigh last Monday. She also finished with one goal, one assist and four draw controls in the Eagles’ win over BU to clinch a berth in the postseason.
 
Kathleen Sullivan, Army West Point, Jr., Attack, Annapolis, Md./South River
*Sullivan scored four goals and dished out four assists for eight points, the fourth-highest single-game total in program history in Army West Point’s 20-2 win over Lafayette.  
 
Lacey Bartholomay, Army West Point, So., Goalkeeper, Alexandria, Va./St. Stephens and St. Agnes
*Bartholomay made six saves and allowed one goal in nearly 43 minutes of play in the Black Knights’ 20-2 victory over Lafayette to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Championship and a bye to the semifinals.  
 
Cara O’Reilly, Colgate, Jr., Midfielder, South Salem, N.Y./John Jay
*O’Reilly scored three goals, including the game-winning goal in Colgate’s 10-9 victory over Lehigh in Thursday’s regular-season finale. She also dished out one assist in the Raiders’ fourth-consecutive win.
 
Hayley Hunt, Lehigh, So., Goalkeeper, Philadelphia, Pa./William Penn Charter
*Hunt combined to make 19 saves to help Lehigh split a pair of games to conclude the regular season. She made 11 saves in the Mountain Hawks’ 11-9 win over American last Monday.
 
Elli Kluegel, Loyola Maryland, Gr., Midfielder, Fairfax, Va./Robinson
*Kluegel tied a career-high with five goals in Loyola Maryland’s 13-5 victory over Navy to secure the Patriot League regular-season title. She scored four of her five goals during a 10-0 run that helped turn a 5-3 deficit into a 13-5 win.

*Rosenzweig finished with six points on two goals and four assists in the Greyhounds’ 13-5 win over Navy to secure the Patriot League regular-season title. She also had three draw controls.

*Ball caused two turnovers and picked up one ground ball in a loss against No. 8 Loyola Maryland. She held the Greyhounds’ Georgia Latch to one goal and a team-high three turnovers.
