Jacob Dobbs of the Holy Cross football team has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2022 Buck Buchanan Award, presented by Stats Perform to the nation's best defensive player at the FCS level.
It is the latest in a list of preseason accolades for Dobbs, who was named a
Preseason All-American by Stats Perform and also earned a spot on the
Preseason All-Patriot League team.
Dobbs was a finalist for the 2021 Buck Buchanan Award, finishing in the top 10 in voting. He was the 2021 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and earned All-Patriot League honors for the third straight year after a stellar junior year; he had 137 tackles, including 75 solo tackles and 17.5 tackles for loss, ranking in the top 10 in FCS last season in solo and total tackles. He additionally recorded 9.5 sacks, six quarterback hurries and three pass breakups, and paced a stellar Holy Cross defense that led the nation in total defense, allowing just 254.5 yards per contest.
Dobbs and the Crusaders will open the 2022 season on Sept. 2 with a nonconference road contest at Merrimack. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in North Andover, Mass. Season tickets and single-game tickets for Holy Cross' home contests are available, with single-game tickets starting at $10 and season ticket packages beginning at $65.
