Crusaders claim dramatic victory at Buffalo, Lehigh captures League opener, Colgate and Fordham earn non-League wins

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Junior wide receiver Jalen Coker hauled in junior quarterback Matthew Sluka’s Hail Mary pass as time expired, lifting Holy Cross to a 37-31 victory over FBS opponent Buffalo on Saturday night.
*After the Bulls kicked a 52-yard game-tying field goal with 31 seconds remaining in regulation, the Crusaders drove 75 yards in five plays, as Coker’s catch among four Buffalo defenders sealed the dramatic victory.
*Coker caught four passes for a career-high 147 yards, including touchdown receptions of 62 and 46 yards.
*Sluka completed 13-of-21 pass attempts for 238 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 146 yards on 25 carries to pace the Crusaders’ offense.
*Sophomore running back Jordan Fuller rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns, while senior wide receiver Ayir Asante had three catches for 28 yards and a touchdown.
*Senior linebacker Jacob Dobbs posted 11 tackles and 1.5 TFLs, while senior cornerback Devin Haskins finished with seven tackles and three pass breakups.
*Holy Cross battled back from an early 14-0 deficit to pick up a victory against an FBS opponent for the second time in as many seasons. The Crusaders beat UConn in the first week of the 2021 season. Before 2021, Holy Cross’s last win against an FBS opponent came in 2002.

WASHINGTON – Lehigh senior defensive back TyGee Leach and junior linebacker Mike DeNucci stopped Georgetown’s two-point conversion attempt with just over one minute remaining in the game to secure a 21-19 victory at Cooper Field.
*Mountain Hawks’ junior quarterback Dante Perri completed 12-of-18 passes for 137 yards, one interception and a touchdown, while senior running back Zaythan Hill rushed for 82 yards on seven carries and a score.
*Georgetown senior quarterback Pierce Holley completed 35-of-45 pass attempts for 277 yards and two touchdowns, including a 20-yard scoring strike to graduate student receiver Joshua Tomas with 1:04 remaining in the game.
*Tomas finished with 124 yards on 13 receptions and a touchdown. Senior wide receiver Dorrian Moultrie added 11 catches for 71 yards.
*Lehigh erased an early 10-point deficit with second-quarter touchdowns from senior running back Zaythan Hill and junior wide receiver Eric Johnson to take a 14-13 lead into the half.
*Sophomore running back Gage Garcia rushed for a 25-yard touchdown on Lehigh’s first possession of the third quarter to take a 21-13 lead. Garcia finished with 67 yards on eight carries.
*Holley threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Tomas with 1:04 remaining, but GU’s ensuing two-point conversion was stopped to seal the Mountain Hawks’ win.
*Lehigh’s Leach finished with a game-high 13 tackles and 3.0 TFLs, while linebacker Nate Norris added nine tackles and 1.0 sack.
*Georgetown senior defensive lineman Ibrahim Kamara totaled four tackles and 2.0 sacks. Freshman defensive back Wedner Cadet intercepted his second pass in two games.

ORONO, Maine – Colgate sophomore quarterback Michael Brescia rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Raiders to a 21-18 victory at Maine on Saturday.
*The reigning Patriot League Rookie of the Year rushed for 87 yards on 15 carries. He scored on runs of one and two yards in the second and third quarters to give the Raiders a 14-0 edge. Brescia’s 68-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter sealed the win.
*Colgate junior running back Max Hurleman also carried 15 times for 59 yards for the Raiders.
*Senior linebacker Tyler Flick made a game-high 15 tackles. Senior defensive lineman Coleman Coco made four stops with 2.0 tackles for loss (TFL), 1.0 sack and a forced fumble.

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Graduate student quarterback Tim DeMorat connected with senior wide receiver Fotis Kokosioulis on a 14-yard touchdown pass with 56 seconds remaining in regulation to lift Fordham to a 52-49 win at Monmouth.
*DeMorat completed 34-of-51 pass attempts for 452 yards, two interceptions and tied a career-high with six touchdown passes.
*Three of his touchdown passes came in the second quarter, helping the Rams turn a 13-point deficit into a two-point, 28-26, lead at halftime.
*Kokosioulis finished with a career-high 15 receptions, one shy of the Patriot League single-game record, for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
*Three other receivers found the end zone, including two from junior Mekai Felton and one apiece from seniors Dequece Carter and Dan Byrnes.
*Graduate student running back Trey Sneed rushed for a team-high 110 yards on 17 carries, while sophomore running back Julius Loughridge had 94 rushing yards and a score.
*Graduate student linebacker Ryan Greenhagen and sophomore linebacker James Conway had six tackles apiece for the Rams’ defense. Senior defensive back Stephen Williams III had an interception.

LEXINGTON, Va. – Junior quarterback Nick Semptimphelter threw a pair of second-half touchdown passes, but it was not enough to overcome a 24-point deficit in Bucknell’s 24-14 loss at VMI.
*The junior signal-caller came off the bench and threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Rushawn Baker with 1:05 remaining in the third quarter.
*Semptimphelter found sophomore tight end Kyle Fontes on a four-yard scoring pass on Bucknell’s next possession and then converted a two-point conversion to make the score 24-14.
*Senior cornerback Gavin Pringle had a second-quarter interception, four pass breakups and three tackles for the Bison.
*Bucknell senior safety Brent Jackson finished with a team-leading eight tackles and 1.0 TFL. Junior linebacker Blake Leake added seven tackles and 1.0 TFL.

PHILADELPHIA – The Leopards remained in striking distance of FBS rival Temple trailing, 21-14, to open the fourth quarter, but the Owls scored nine unanswered points to drop Lafayette 30-14 at Lincoln Financial Field.
*Freshman quarterback Ryan Schuster completed 10-of-15 passes for 80 yards and two touchdown passes.
*Schuster completed a 12-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Julius Young at the 6:10 mark in the first quarter. He also found junior tight end Mason Gilbert in the end zone on a five-yard pass in the third quarter.
*Lafayette senior linebacker Marco Olivas led the Leopards’ defense with 11 tackles and a forced fumble.
*Senior linebacker Jyaire Stevens had six tackles, 1.5 TFLs and a forced fumble.
