Holy Cross downs Colgate; Fordham’s Kokosioulis breaks Patriot League single-game record

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Holy Cross junior quarterback Matthew Sluka threw two touchdown passes and rushed for two more scores to lead the No. 13 Crusaders to a 35-10 victory at Colgate.
*Sluka completed 10-of-21 passes for 147 yards and two scores and rushed for 27 yards to pace the Crusaders’ offense.
*Colgate sophomore quarterback Michael Brescia completed 15-of-32 passes for 148 yards and an interception while rushing for 51 yards and a touchdown for the Raiders.
*After Sluka’s three-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter, Colgate surged in front with a 31-yard field goal from sophomore placekicker Spencer Biscoe and a five-yard run from Brescia on their first two possessions of the second quarter.
*The Crusaders regained the lead before halftime, as Sluka found sophomore wide receiver Justin Shorter in the end zone on a 22-yard strike. They extended the lead in the third quarter when Sluka found junior wide receiver Jalen Coker on a 29-yard touchdown pass to take a 28-10 lead.
*Sophomore running back Jordan Fuller and Sluka each rushed for touchdowns in the second half to preserve the 35-10 victory and help Holy Cross improve to 4-0.
*Crusaders’ senior defensive lineman Jake Reichwein had five tackles and 2.5 sacks, while senior linebacker Liam Anderson finished with six tackles, an interception, 1.5 TFLs and a half sack.
*Senior safety Walter Reynolds also recorded an interception and five tackles for the Crusaders.
*Colgate senior linebacker J.C. Gaughan registered five tackles, 2.0 TFLs and one sack and junior linebacker Christian Sweeney had a game-high eight tackles.

ATHENS, Ohio – Fordham senior wide receiver Fotis Kokosioulis broke the Patriot League single-game receiving yards record with 320 yards and four touchdowns, but the No. 18 Rams fell to Ohio University, 59-52, in a shootout at Peden Stadium.
*Kokosioulis broke the 31-year-old single-game record of 319 receiving yards, previously held by Lehigh’s Jason Cristino for his performance against Lafayette in 1991.
*Senior quarterback Tim DeMorat threw for a career-high 503 yards on 27-of-35 passing. He tied his Fordham program record with six touchdown passes in the loss.
*Senior running back Trey Sneed rushed for a game-high 88 yards on 19 carries to lead Fordham’s ground game.
*Graduate student linebacker Ryan Greenhagen finished with a season-high 16 tackles, while sophomore linebacker James Conway added 13 tackles and 1.0 TFL.
*Senior defensive back Stephen Williams II recorded 10 tackles, 1.0 TFL and a forced fumble. Sophomore defensive lineman Matt Jaworski finished with 1.5 TFLs and a fourth-quarter strip sack recovered by the Rams.
*Trailing by 11 at the half, Fordham outscored the Bobcats 28-7 in the third quarter as Kokosioulis had touchdown receptions of 45 and 84 yards to take a 49-38 lead into the final frame.
*Junior placekicker Brandon Peskin connected on a 36-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, but it would be the only points the Rams would manage in the last quarter. Peskin connected on all seven PAT attempts.
*Ohio surged in front on a five-yard touchdown pass with 52 seconds remaining in the game. The Bobcats added a 42-yard fumble recovery touchdown as time expired.

WASHINGTON – Georgetown could not hang with Columbia, falling to the Lions 42-6, for the Lou Little Trophy at Cooper Field on Saturday.
*Hoyas’ junior quarterback Pierce Holley completed 30-of-54 passes for 317 yards and an 18-yard touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Asante Das.
*Graduate student wide receiver Joshua Tomas caught nine passes for 118 yards, while classmate Cameron Crayton had six catches for 71 yards. Tomas moved to fifth in GU history with 1,979 receiving yards.
*Graduate student linebacker Justin Fonteneaux finished with a game-high 11 tackles for the Hoyas’ defense. Junior defensive back Sherman Steptoe II added six tackles and an interception.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Leopards could not break through against a stout Penn defense in a 12-0 loss at Franklin Field on Saturday.
*Lafayette’s defense held the Quakers to 272 total yards and touchdowns in the second and third quarters. Penn failed to convert the PAT on both scores.
*Sophomore defensive back Saiku White recorded his second interception of the season, while classmate Gabe DuBois recorded a career-high nine tackles to go along with a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
*Senior defensive lineman Malik Hamm posted 1.5 sacks to become the Leopards’ career sacks leader with 26.5. He also added six tackles.
*Freshman quarterback Ryan Schuster completed 11-of-23 pass attempts for 167 yards and an interception. Sophomore wide receiver Chris Carasia had five catches for 62 yards to lead Lafayette’s offense.

PRINCETON, N.J. – Lehigh senior defensive lineman Dean Colton returned a fourth-quarter interception 52 yards for a touchdown, but it was not enough to overcome Princeton’s 13-point third quarter in a 29-17 loss.
*Junior linebacker Mike DeNucci finished with 11 tackles and 3.0 sacks to lead a Mountain Hawks’ defense that limited Princeton to 291 yards of total offense.
*Lehigh junior quarterback Dante Perri completed 13-of-20 passes for 104 yards, two interceptions and a touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Eric Johnson.
*First-year wide receiver Geoffrey Jamiel caught five passes for 81 yards to lead Lehigh’s offense.
*The Mountain Hawks and Tigers were tied at 10 going into halftime before Princeton scored the first 19 points of the second half to put the game away.
*Senior defensive back TyGee Leach also recorded an interception for the Lehigh defense.
