Patriot League GEICO Football Players of the Week Announced (9.26.22)

Fordham’s Kokosioulis and Lehigh’s DeNucci claim offensive and defensive player of the week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh claimed two of the four Patriot League GEICO weekly football awards when the League office announced the honors on Monday. Fordham and Georgetown picked up one accolade apiece.
 
Fordham senior wide receiver Fotis Kokosioulis captured Patriot League Football GEICO Offensive Player of the Week after his record-breaking game against FBS opponent Ohio University on Saturday. Kokosioulis broke a 31-year-old Patriot League single-game record with 320 receiving yards against the Bobcats.
 
Georgetown senior wide receiver/return specialist Dorrian Moultrie was voted Patriot League GEICO Special Teams Player of the Week after averaging 39.0 yards per kick return in the Hoyas’ loss against Columbia.
 
Lehigh junior linebacker Mike DeNucci earned Patriot League Football GEICO Defensive Player of the Week honors with 11 tackles and 3.0 sacks in the Mountain Hawks’ loss at Princeton. Mountain Hawks’ freshman wide receiver Geoffrey Jamiel picked up rookie of the week honors after catching five passes for 81 yards against the Tigers.
 
Colgate sophomore quarterback Michael Brescia, Fordham graduate student Ryan Greenhagen and junior placekicker Brandon Peskin, Georgetown graduate student wide receiver Joshua Tomas, Holy Cross senior cornerback Devin Haskins, senior defensive end Jake Reichwein and junior quarterback Matthew Sluka and Lafayette senior defensive lineman Malik Hamm all received honorable mentions for their performances on Saturday. 
 
The Patriot League football players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s sports information directors, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

PATRIOT LEAGUE FOOTBALL GEICO OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Fotis Kokosioulis, Fordham, Sr., WR, Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South
*Kokosioulis broke a 31-year-old Patriot League single-game record for receiving yards with 320 on 13 receptions in the Rams’ 59-52 loss at FBS opponent Ohio University.
*The senior wide receiver caught four touchdown passes of 33, 74, 45 and 84 yards. His four touchdown receptions move him into sixth-place in Patriot League history with 29 during his career.
*His 320-yard performance is the best in NCAA DI FCS this season.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE FOOTBALL GEICO DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mike DeNucci, Lehigh, Jr., LB, Denville, N.J./Pope John XXIII Regional
*DeNucci recorded a game-high 11 tackles and 3.0 sacks in Lehigh’s 29-17 loss at Princeton on Saturday.
*The Patriot League’s sacks leader forced Princeton to settle for a field goal with his first sack of the game, while his third pushed the Tigers out of field-goal range.
*DeNucci and the Lehigh defense held Princeton to 62 rushing yards and 291 yards of total offense.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE FOOTBALL GEICO SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dorrian Moultrie, Georgetown, Sr., WR/RS, Columbus, Ohio/Columbus Academy
*Moultrie averaged 39.0 yards per kick-off return, totaling 117 yards on three chances in Georgetown’s loss vs. Columbia.
*The senior return specialist had a 70-yard return to set up a Hoyas’ touchdown in the third quarter.
*He is second in the Patriot League with 25.4 yards per kick return.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE FOOTBALL GEICO ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Geoffrey Jamiel, Lehigh, Fr., WR, West Yarmouth, Mass./Deerfield Academy
*Jamiel posted career-highs with five receptions for 81 yards in Lehigh’s 29-17 loss at Princeton on Saturday.
*The freshman wide receiver caught a 48-yard pass from classmate Brayten Silbor on his first collegiate pass attempt for the Mountain Hawks’ longest offensive play of the day.
*He has started each of Lehigh’s four games and leads the team in receptions (16) while placing second on the squad in receiving yards (141).

Michael Brescia, Colgate, Colgate, So., QB, Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central
*Brescia threw for 148 yards and rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown in the Raiders’ loss against Holy Cross.  
 
Ryan Greenhagen, Fordham, Gr., LB, Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII
*Greenhagen registered a season-high 16 tackles in Fordham’s 59-52 loss at FBS opponent Ohio University.
 
Brandon Peskin, Fordham, Jr., PK, Melville, N.Y./Half Hollows Hills East
*Peskin connected on a 36-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to give Fordham a 52-46 lead in the Rams’ eventual loss at FBS opponent Ohio University. He connected on all seven of his extra-point attempts.
 
Joshua Tomas, Georgetown, Gr., WR, University Park, Ill./Crete-Monee
*Tomas caught nine passes for 118 yards in Georgetown’s loss against Columbia. He moved into fifth place on Georgetown’s career receiving yards list, with 1,979 yards during his time on the Hilltop.
 
Devin Haskins, Holy Cross, Sr., CB, Celina, Texas/Prosper
*Haskins blocked a Colgate punt that set up a 22-yard touchdown on the Crusaders following possession. He also had a tackle on a kickoff, adding to his total of three total tackles.
 
Jake Reichwein, Holy Cross, Sr., DE, Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West
*Reichwein finished with six tackles and 2.5 sacks for a loss of 18 yards in Holy Cross’s 35-10 victory over Colgate. The Crusaders’ defense held the Raiders to 10 points and 250 yards of total offense.
 
Matthew Sluka, Holy Cross, Jr., QB, Locust Valley, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial
*Sluka threw two touchdown passes and rushed for two more to lead Holy Cross to a 35-10 victory over Colgate. He completed 10-of-21 passes for 147 yards and rushed for 27 yards.
 
Malik Hamm, Lafayette, Sr., Baltimore, Md./City College
*Hamm recorded 1.5 sacks at Penn to become Lafayette’s career sacks leader while moving into a tie for eighth-place in Patriot League history with 26.5. He also finished with six tackles and blocked a PAT.
