No. 1 Boston University Claims 2023 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Soccer Title (11.11.23)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — No. 1 Boston University defeated No. 3 Lafayette, 1-0, in the 2023 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Soccer Championship game to earn the Patriot League title on Saturday afternoon in Boston, Mass.

The win marks the Terriers’ first Patriot League Men’s Soccer Championship title and their first NCAA Tournament bid since claiming an at-large berth in 2015.

BU senior midfielder Eitan Rosen was awarded Tournament MVP honors, scoring the lone goal in the championship game. BU graduate student midfielder Colin Innes, senior goalkeeper Francesco Montali and senior back Griffin Roach joined Rosen on the 2023 Patriot League All-Tournament Team.
 
Lafayette junior forward Lawrence Aydlett, freshman forward Roy Biegon and senior forward Hale Lombard were all named to the all-tournament squad.
 
Colgate senior forward Aidan Davock and junior midfielder Mason Pahule, and Loyola Maryland sophomore goalkeeper Dylan Van der Walt and freshman defender Chris Ogor also earned a spot on the all-tournament team.

The Terriers, who earned the Patriot League’s automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship, will learn their first-round opponent when the NCAA DI Men’s Soccer Selection Show takes place on Monday, Nov. 13. Live coverage begins at 1 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.

BOSTON, MASS. – The Boston University Terriers were crowned champions as they defeated No. 3 Lafayette, 1-0, in the 2023 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Soccer Title game on Saturday afternoon.
* BU senior midfielder Eitan Rosen scored the game’s lone goal at the 64:10 mark off an assist from senior midfielders Andrew Rent and Aidan Bone.
*The goal was Rosen’s ninth goal of the season.
* The Terriers held a 12-6 edge in shots over the Leopards.
* Junior defender Eric Ponieman led the Leopards with three shots.
* Lafayette senior goalkeeper Alex Sutton finished the game with four saves, while Boston University senior goalkeeper Francesco Montali recorded one save.
* The Terriers are now 3-1-2 at home against Lafayette.
