BETHLEHEM, Pa. — No. 2 Bucknell was crowned the PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Champions for the third-straight season by defeating No. 1 Army West Point in penalty kicks on Sunday afternoon in West Point, N.Y.
The game was locked in a scoreless tie through 110 minutes before Bucknell beat the Black Knights, 4-3, in the penalty kicks.
The win marks the Bison's seventh Patriot League Women's Soccer Championship title and the fifth under head coach Kelly Cook’s leadership.
Bucknell senior goalkeeper Jenna Hall was awarded Tournament MVP honors after making 13 saves in the championship game. Junior midfielder Teresa Deda, junior defender Katie Schiano and senior defender Brooke Tracey joined Hall on the 2023 Patriot League All-Tournament Team.
Army junior midfielder Kaelan Bradley, sophomore midfielder Brigid Duffy, and junior defender Keira Vesy were all named to the all-tournament squad.
Boston University sophomore midfielder Giulianna Gianino and junior goalkeeper Celia Braun and Colgate senior midfielder Lauren Rougas and junior goalkeeper Alli Popham also were placed on the all-tournament team.
The Bison earned the Patriot League automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship. They will learn their first-round opponent when the NCAA DI Women’s Soccer Selection Show takes place on Monday, Nov. 6 with live coverage beginning at 4 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.
