WASHINGTON – No. 7 American defeated No. 10 Bucknell, 64-59, and No. 8 Loyola Maryland downed No. 9 Holy Cross, 73-69, in the First Round of the 2023 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Basketball Championship on Tuesday night.
The Eagles advance to take on No. 2 Navy at Alumni Hall in Annapolis, Md. The Greyhounds will travel to Hamilton, N.Y. and meet regular-season champion and No. 1 seed Colgate at Cotterell Court. Live coverage of both games begins at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
No. 4 Army West Point welcomes No. 5 Boston University with a 6 p.m. tip-off time on ESPN+. No. 3 Lehigh hosts rival No. 6 Lafayette, starting at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

WASHINGTON – Junior forward Johnny O’Neil blocked a Bison shot with 14 seconds remaining, then connected on a pair of free throws to seal No. 7 American’s 64-59 win over No. 10 Bucknell in the first round of the 2023 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Basketball Championship.
*O’Neil finished with a game-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor and 3-of-5 from long distance to go along with eight rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals.
*Sophomore guard Elijah Stephens added 18 points, four assists and two steals, while junior forward Matt Rogers recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 boards for the Eagles.
*American junior guard Lorenzo Donadio contributed 10 points for the balanced Eagles’ offense.
*Bucknell senior guard Xander Rice led the Bison with 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field, including 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. He also dished out a team-high five assists.
*Junior guard Jack Forrest and sophomore guard Elvin Edmonds IV finished with 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the Bison.

BALTIMORE – Freshman guard Deon Perry scored a game-high 25 points to lead No. 8 Loyola Maryland to a 73-69 victory over No. 9 Holy Cross in the first round of the 2023 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Basketball Championship.
*Senior forward Golden Dike recorded his third double-double of the season with 11 points and 16 rebounds, while graduate student guard Jaylin Andrews finished with 15 points and nine boards for the Greyhounds.
*Junior forward Alonso Faure pulled down 10 rebounds to help Loyola Maryland hold a 46-37 advantage over Holy Cross on the glass.
*Freshman guard Will Batchelder led four Crusaders in double-figures with 18 points, while senior forward Gerrale Gates posted his League-leading 13th double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
*Junior guards Bo Montgomery and Joe Octave added 17 and 12 points, respectively. Montgomery also dished out five assists.
