Patriot League regular-season campaign concludes this week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Patriot League enters the final week of the regular season with five League games between Thursday and Friday. American hosts Boston University at 2 p.m. on Thursday to open the final slate of games. Holy Cross travels to Bucknell for a 4 p.m. meeting before Lehigh welcomes Colgate (6 p.m.) and Lafayette takes on Army West Point (7 p.m.), all on ESPN+.
 
The regular season concludes on Friday evening when Navy hosts Loyola Maryland with live coverage beginning at 6 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

TOP FOUR SEEDS SET FOR 2023 PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP
Loyola Maryland clinched at least a share of the Patriot League women’s lacrosse regular-season title for the eighth time since joining the League for the 2014 season. The Greyhounds have also sealed hosting duties for the semifinal round and championship game on May 4 and May 6. Army West Point clinched the No. 2 seed in the championship and a quarterfinal round bye after defeating Navy, 15-11, last Saturday. The Mids and Lehigh will be the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, respectively, and host quarterfinal-round games on Sunday, April 30. Four teams are in play to claim the final two spots in the six-team field, with Holy Cross, Boston University, Colgate and American playing for a postseason berth on Thursday.
 
ARMY WEST POINT’S REILLY EARNS NATIONAL CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Army West Point freshman attack Allison Reilly earned IWLCA Division I Co-Offensive Player of the Week after setting program records with 12 points and nine goals in the Black Knights’ 15-11 victory over Navy on Saturday. Her 12 points were a single-game high in the Patriot League this season, helping the Sayville, N.Y. native receive Patriot League Attacker and Rookie of the Week.
 
LOYOLA MARYLAND RANKED NINTH; ARMY WEST POINT REMAINS NO. 15; NAVY CLIMBS TO NO. 25 IN ILWOMEN/IWLCA POLL
Loyola Maryland moved up one spot to No. 9 in this week’s ILWomen/IWLCA Top 25 Poll, released on April 24. Head coach Jen Adams and the Greyhounds remained undefeated in League play with decisive wins over Bucknell and Lafayette last week. Head coach Michelle Tumolo and the Black Knights moved up one spot to No. 15 after defeating Navy, 15-11. The Mids slipped to No. 25 in this week’s poll.

LOYOLA MARYLAND’S WILSON CLOSING IN ON PATRIOT LEAGUE RECORD
Loyola Maryland graduate student midfielder Jillian Wilson is two draw controls away from breaking the one-year-old League record of 156, set last season by Boston University’s Jennifer Barry. Wilson, the Preseason Patriot League Midfielder of the Year and a Tewaaraton Award semifinalist, broke Loyola Maryland’s single-season record last weekend, tallying her 155th of the season in a 14-1 win against Lafayette.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE GOALKEEPERS AMONG NCAA DI LEADERS
Three Patriot League goalkeepers are among the NCAA DI’s top 40 in goals-against average (GAA), led by Loyola Maryland sophomore Lauren Spence, who is second with a 6.83 GAA. Navy sophomore Emma Richardell is 20th with a 9.81 GAA, while Boston University junior Reilly Agres is 36th with a 10.88 GAA. Four more League goalkeepers are among the top 40 in save percentage, with Spence who is fifth with a .529 save percentage. Army West Point junior Lacey Bartholomay is 20th with a .476 save percentage, and Lehigh junior Hayley Hunt is 29th with a .464 save percentage. Lafayette junior Lexie Coldiron is 35th with a .454 save percentage.
 
GREYHOUNDS AMONG NCAA DI LEADERS IN SCORING DEFENSE AND DRAW CONTROLS
Loyola Maryland is second in NCAA DI in scoring defense, allowing 6.75 goals per game with a unit that features two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and Tewaaraton Award semifinalist Katie Detwiler and Spence. The Greyhounds have kept opponents off the scoreboard by keeping the ball on their offensive end, leading NCAA DI in draw control percentage (.714) while ranking second in draw controls per game (18.44). Graduate student midfielder Jillian Wilson is second in NCAA DI with 9.69 draw controls per game.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WITH FIVE AMONG NCAA DI’S TOP 40 IN DRAW CONTROLS
Loyola’s Wilson is second in the nation with 9.69 draw controls per game, highlighting a group of five Patriot League student-athletes among the NCAA DI top 40 in the category. Boston University senior midfielder Jennifer Barry is second in the League and ninth in NCAA DI, averaging 7.62 draw controls per game. Lehigh senior midfielder Cassie Marte is third in the League and 26th in NCAA DI with 5.87 draw controls per game, while Army West Point senior attack Julia Franzoni is 28th with 5.93 draw controls per game. Bucknell senior defender Ella Payer rounds out the group at 37th with 5.29 draw controls per game.

NAVY’S YOVINO CLOSING IN ON 100 POINTS
Navy freshman midfielder Ava Yovino leads the Patriot League and is fourth in NCAA DI with 5.31 points per game, while her 85 points through 16 games is third in NCAA DI. The Parkland, Fla. native is 15 points shy of becoming the 15th player in Patriot League women’s lacrosse history and the third freshman to reach 100 points in their rookie season, joining Navy’s Kelly Larkin (2017) and Loyola Maryland’s Livy Rosenzweig (2018).
 
DUFFY FUELING ARMY WEST POINT’S EARLY SEASON SUCCESS
Army West Point freshman midfielder Brigid Duffy has helped the Black Knights to a program-best 13-2 record and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Patriot League Championship. The Queensbury, N.Y. native leads the Patriot League and is 26th in NCAA DI with 3.20 goals per game. She is tied for third in the League with teammate Kathleen Sullivan with 4.53 points per game to rank 24th in NCAA DI. Duffy has scored 26 goals in the Black Knights’ eight League games, good for third in the League behind Bucknell’s Allie Boyce and Loyola’s Wilson. The five-time Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Week also earned League rookie of the week honors on Sept. 5 as a member of Army West Point’s women’s soccer team.  
 
LOYOLA’S WILSON, BU’S BARRY, COLGATE’S O’REILLY AND BUCKNELL’S PAYER CLIMBING LEAGUE DRAW CONTROLS CAREER LEADERS LIST
Loyola Maryland graduate student midfielder Jillian Wilson became the third player in Patriot League history to eclipse 400 career draw controls, joining Navy’s Loren Generi (493) and Loyola Maryland’s Livy Rosenzweig (413). Wilson is third in League history with 406 draw controls, helping her rank second among all active NCAA DI players in the category. Boston University senior midfielder Jennifer Barry became the seventh player in League history to eclipse 300 career draw controls. She is seventh in League history with 361 draw controls, ranking fifth among active players. Colgate senior midfielder Cara O’Reilly’s 266 career draw controls rank 18th among active NCAA DI players and 11th in League history. Bucknell senior defender Ella Payer is 48th among active players with 193 draw controls after breaking the Bison program record on March 25 against Lafayette.
 
LEHIGH’S SCHNEIDER BREAKS PROGRAM ASSISTS RECORD
Lehigh senior attack Gabby Schneider is seventh in Patriot League history with 114 career assists. The Smithtown, N.Y. native is fifth among the NCAA DI active leaders in the category. Earlier this season, she passed Mountain Hawk great Allison LaBeau (105 career assists) to become Lehigh’s career assists leader. She also became the 33rd player in Patriot League history to eclipse 200 career points. Her 227 points rank 25th among the Patriot League’s career leaders and 13th among the NCAA DI active career leaders.
 
LOYOLA’S WILSON AND LEHIGH’S CARNEVALE MOVING UP CAREER GOALS LIST
The Greyhounds’ Wilson is tied for 24th on the Patriot League’s career goals list, with 165 for her career, while placing fourth this season with 2.81 goals per game. The Patriot League Preseason Midfielder of the Year is also 16th among active NCAA DI players. Lehigh senior attack Katia Carnevale is third in the League with 2.93 goals per game this season after a four-goal performance against Holy Cross last Saturday. She is tied for 31st on the Patriot League career list with 147 goals. Carnevale is currently 29th among active NCAA DI goal scorers.
 
GREYHOUNDS’ DETWILER AND WILSON NAMED AMONG 25 NOMINEES FOR TEWAARATON
Loyola Maryland’s Katie Detwiler (Gr., D) and Jillian Wilson (Gr., M) were announced among the 25 women’s nominees from which the five finalists will be selected for the Tewaaraton Award. The honor, bestowed annually to the most outstanding men’s and women’s lacrosse players, will be announced on May 11 at the conclusion of the regular season. Detwiler was a Top-25 semifinalist in 2022.
 
JEN ADAMS BECOMES LOYOLA MARYLAND’S WINNINGEST WOMEN’S LACROSSE COACH
Loyola Maryland women’s lacrosse head coach Jen Adams became the program’s career leader in wins following a 20-7 victory over Holy Cross on April 1, surpassing USLacrosse Hall of Famer Diane Geppi-Aikens. Adams, who has 203 career victories, has the Greyhounds in the midst of an NCAA-best 74-game regular-season conference win streak. She has taken her squad to the NCAA Championship in 10 of the last 11 years in which it has been held, advancing to the quarterfinals four times. The Greyhounds are 14-2 overall this season with an 8-0 League record. Navy head coach Cindy Timchal, who coached Adams at Maryland, is the winningest women’s lacrosse coach in NCAA DI history with 562 career victories.
 
FORMER CLUB TEAMMATES YOVINO AND MCCLAIN SHINING IN PATRIOT LEAGUE
Navy freshman midfielder Ava Yovino (2.88) and Bucknell sophomore attack Taylor McClain (2.00) are first and fourth in the Patriot League and fourth and 31st in NCAA DI in assists, respectively. She and McClain were club teammates with Florida Select, where they were coached by Taylor's father, John.
