BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Regular-season champion Loyola Maryland collected four of the six Patriot League women’s lacrosse major awards when the League office announced postseason honors on Monday. Army West Point, who won a program-record 14 games to finish second in the League, claimed two.
Loyola Maryland graduate student Katie Detwiler claimed her third-consecutive Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year honor, matching former Greyhounds’ defender Maddy Lesher for the League record. Graduate student Jillian Wilson repeated as Patriot League Midfielder of the Year, while sophomore Georgia Latch claimed attacker of the year honors a year after earning rookie of the year last season. Classmate Lauren Spence earned Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year for the first time.
Army West Point freshman midfielder Brigid Duffy received Patriot League Rookie of the Year accolades after finishing the regular season among the League leaders in goals (50) and points (71). Black Knights’ second-year head coach Michelle Tumolo was voted Patriot League Coach of the Year after leading her squad to a program-best 14 wins and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
Overall, 36 student-athletes were selected to the two All-Patriot League teams, with 19 voted onto the first team and 17 more receiving a spot on the second team due to ties in the voting on both teams. Loyola Maryland placed a League-high nine student-athletes on the two teams with Army West Point and Lehigh receiving six All-League selections.
Navy is represented by four student-athletes on the All-League teams, with Boston University placing three honorees on the squads. American, Bucknell and Holy Cross have two representatives, and Colgate and Lafayette placed one student-athlete apiece on the All-League teams.
Patriot League women’s lacrosse head coaches voted on the All-League teams and major awards. They were prohibited from voting for their student-athletes or themselves.
2023 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Attacker of the Year

2023 Statistics: 17 GP, 39 G, 38 A, 77 P, .464 SH%, 704 SOG%, 13 GB, 4 CT, 6 DC
*Latch finished second in the Patriot League in points (77) and third in assists (38) to lead the Greyhounds to the seventh-ranked scoring offense (15.88 goals per game) in NCAA DI.
*The defending Patriot League Rookie of the Year and preseason attacker of the year posted seven hat tricks, 11 multi-assist games and 11 games with four or more points, as Loyola Maryland finished 15-2 with a 9-0 League record.
*The Melbourne, Australia native was named an ILWomen Mid-Season All-American.
2023 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Midfielder of the Year
Jillian Wilson, Loyola Maryland, Gr., Midfielder, Hampstead, Md./Gerstell Academy
2023 Statistics: 17 GP, 50 G, 16 A, 66 P, .562 SH%, .809 SOG%, 29 GB, 15 CT, 166 DC
*Wilson earned her second straight Patriot League Midfielder of the Year honor after breaking the League’s single-season record for draw controls (166), ranking second in NCAA with 9.69 draw controls per game. She is second in League history with 417 career draw controls.
*The Tewaaraton Award Top-25 Semifinalist is tied for the League lead in goals (50) while ranking seventh in points (66) for a Greyhounds’ offense that is seventh in the nation with 15.88 goals per game. She has tallied at least two points in 36 consecutive games.
*Wilson tied the Patriot League single-season record with six League midfielder of the week honors this season.
2023 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year

*Detwiler is the second Patriot League women’s lacrosse student-athlete to earn defensive player of the year honors three straight times, joining former Greyhounds’ defender Maddy Lesher.
*She anchored a Loyola Maryland defense that finished the regular season ranked second in NCAA DI, allowing 6.82 goals per game while holding four different Tewaaraton Award Watch List candidates under their season scoring averages.
*The Tewaaraton Award Top-25 Semifinalist also broke the Patriot League career record with 14 defensive player of the week awards, including three this season.
2023 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Goalkeeper of the Year

2023 Statistics: 17 GP, 911.56 MIN, 6.84 GAA, 117 Saves, .529 SV%, 15 W, 2 L
*Spence is second in NCAA DI in goals-against average (6.84) and third in save percentage (.529) to help the Greyhounds to the second-ranked scoring defense (6.82) in the nation.
*She was selected to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List and was a Mid-Season All-America selection by
ILWomen, in addition to claiming a pair of Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honors.
*The sophomore goalkeeper posted a 15-2 record with five wins over nationally ranked opponents.
2023 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Year
Brigid Duffy, Army West Point, Fr., Midfielder, Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury
2023 Statistics: 16 GP, 50 G, 21 A, 71 P, .431 SH%, .672 SOG%, 30 GB, 15 CT, 74 DC
*Duffy is tied for the Patriot League lead in goals per game (3.13) and is fourth in points per game (4.44) to rank 30th and 28th in the categories, respectively.
*She is sixth in the League in draw controls (74) and eighth in ground balls (30), finishing the regular season as the only League player to finish among the top 10 in goals, points, draw controls and ground balls.
*She collected Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors five times and League midfielder of the week once.
2023 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Coach of the Year
Michelle Tumolo, Army West Point
*Tumolo guided Army West Point to a program-best 14-2 overall record and 8-1 League mark to claim the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Championship for the second-consecutive season.
*The Black Knights finished the regular season second in the League in goals per game (15.25) and goals against (10.25).
*She guided the eight-year-old Army West Point program to a program-best No. 15 ranking in the
ILWomen/IWLCA Top 25 Poll after finishing the regular season with a pair of victories over ranked opponents against then-No. 19 Jacksonville (W, 12-10) and then-No. 9 Rutgers (W, 10-5).
Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse All-League Teams by the Numbers
Fourteen of the 36 All-Patriot League selections are multi-year honorees, highlighted by Detwiler, who becomes the 30th women’s lacrosse student-athlete to garner All-League accolades four times. Five more received All-League honors for the third time, including Army West Point junior attack Julia Gorajek, Bucknell senior defender Ella Payer, Lehigh senior attackers Emma Eberhardt and Gabby Schneider and Loyola Maryland’s Wilson.
American junior defender Jordan Mitchell, Army West Point senior attack Kathleen Sullivan and senior midfielder Jolie Riedell, Boston University senior attack Jennifer Barry, Lehigh junior goalkeeper Hayley Hunt and Loyola Maryland’s Latch, junior attack Sydni Black and senior attack Emily Wills.
The two All-Patriot League teams were comprised of 15 seniors, 10 juniors, seven sophomores, two graduate students and two freshmen.
