Holy Cross and Lafayette earn important victories during Week Three

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Holy Cross senior quarterback Matthew Sluka accounted for six touchdowns to lead the No. 5/6 Crusaders to a 49-24 victory over Yale. 
*Sluka completed 23-of-30 passes for 275 yards and four scores while rushing for 98 yards on 14 carries and two more touchdowns. 
*Crusaders’ senior wide receiver Jalen Coker caught nine passes for 124 yards and three touchdowns, while junior running back Jordan Fuller rushed for 54 yards and two more scores on 12 carries. 
*Fifth-year linebacker Jacob Dobbs posted a game-high 17 tackles, 1.0 TFL and a forced fumble to lead a Holy Cross defense.
 *Holy Cross senior cornerback Malik Scott returned an interception 28 yards to the Yale five-yard line to set up a Sluka touchdown pass to Coker for the final score of the game. 
*Holy Cross outscored Yale, 28-7, in the second half.

BETHLEHEM, Pa.Lehigh scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to close to within three points of Cornell but fell short in a 23-20 loss to the Big Red at Goodman Stadium.
*Sophomore quarterback Brayten Silbor threw a touchdown pass to sophomore wide receiver Geoffrey Jamiel with 1:13 left in the game, but Cornell recovered the ensuing onside kick to close out the win.
*Silbor also rushed for a four-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. He finished with 192 passing yards, completing 21-of-42 attempts with one touchdown and two interceptions.
*Six receivers caught passes, led by first-year wide receiver Mason Humphrey, who finished with six catches for 66 yards.
*Sophomore linebacker Brycen Edwards and fifth-year linebacker Mike DeNucci led Lehigh with nine tackles apiece. Edwards added 1.0 TFL, while first-year defensive back DJ Brown had five tackles and 1.5 TFLs.

EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette sophomore running back Jamar Curtis rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Leopards to a 24-3 victory over Columbia in their home opener at Fisher Stadium.
*Curtis recorded his second 100-yard rushing game of the season on 20 carries while scoring on a six-yard run in the second quarter and a 29-yard rush in the third quarter.
*Sophomore quarterback Dean DeNobile completed 15-of-22 passes for 149 yards and rushed for a touchdown, while sophomore wide receiver Elijah Steward caught seven passes for 73 yards.
*Junior running back Nahjee Adams rushed for 61 yards on 10 carries for a Leopards’ squad that accumulated 243 yards on the ground against the Lions.
*Fifth-year linebacker Marco Olivas finished with seven tackles and 1.5 sacks, while senior linebacker Preston Forney added seven tackles and 1.0 sack.
*Sophomore defensive back Byron Johnson intercepted a pass before the end of the third quarter.

WASHINGTON – Georgetown graduate student running back Joshua Stakely compiled 136 total yards and scored two touchdowns, but the Hoyas fell to Stonehill, 23-20, for their first loss of the 2023 season.
*Stakely rushed 12 times for 105 yards, his third 100-yard rushing game of the season, and caught four passes for 36 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Hoyas’ offense.
 *Fifth-year quarterback Tyler Knoop completed 19-of-27 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 33 yards on nine carries.
 *Sophomore wide receiver Nicholas Dunneman caught three passes for 32 yards, including a four-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter.
 *Sophomore linebacker Naiteitei Mose recorded a team-leading eight tackles and a half tackle for loss.
*Senior defensive lineman De’Andre Wilborn finished with three tackles, 1.5 TFLs and one sack for the Hoyas.

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate senior placekicker Jacob Jaworski connected on a pair of 25-yard field goals, but that was all the offense the Raiders could muster in a 20-6 loss to Penn.
*Senior running back Jaedon Henry rushed for 48 yards on 11 carries, while first-year Winston Moore and sophomore Treyvhon Saunders posted 71 and 64 receiving yards, respectively.
*Senior defensive back Arthur Hamlin posted four tackles, 1.0 TFL and an interception to lead the Raiders’ defense.
 *Senior linebacker Drew Frankel finished with a team-high six tackles and senior defensive back Sage Luther added four tackles and 1.0 sack.
