Eagles improve to 4-1 in League play in nationally televised victory over the Greyhounds

BALTIMORE – Junior guard Elijah Stephens scored nine of his game-high 17 points in the final two minutes of the second half to lead American to a 66-52 victory over Loyola Maryland in a nationally televised meeting on CBS Sports Network.
*Sophomore guard Geoff Sprouse added 14 points on 3-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc while connecting on 5-of-5 from the charity stripe to lead an American bench unit that outscored the Greyhounds' reserves 30-11.
*Eagles' senior guard Colin Smalls and sophomore center Jermaine Ballisager Webb chipped in eight points apiece off the bench.
*Loyola Maryland junior forward Milos Ilic finished with team-highs of 11 points and eight rebounds.
*Junior guard D'Angelo Stines posted 10 points, four assists and three steals for the Greyhounds.
*The Greyhounds built an early seven-point lead in a game that featured 11 lead changes and five ties.
*American led by two points heading into halftime. American and Loyola traded leads early in the second half with the Greyhounds holding a 34-33 edge at the 15:42 mark in the second half. Loyola tied the score at 40 apiece with 12:30 remaining in the game before Sprouse's step-back 3-pointer put the Eagles in front for good.
