BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy sophomore guard Zanai Barnett-Gay was named the Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Women's Basketball Player of the Week, while freshman teammate Mary Gibbons earned Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the League office on Monday.
Barnett-Gay was named Patriot League Player of the Week after leading the Mids in points, rebounds, assists, and steals last week.
Gibbons was named Rookie of the week after averaging 12 points and 53% from the three-point range in Navy’s 3-0 week.
Bucknell sophomore forward Ashley Sofilkanich and freshman guard/forward Elana Weisman, along with Lehigh fifth-year Maddie Albrecht, received honorable mentions.
The Patriot League women’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s sports information director, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*Barnett-Gay helped Navy to a 3-0 week, leading the team in points (17.3), rebounds (5.3), assists (4.3), and steals (2.7) per game last week.
*The sophomore opened the week with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds in a 55-53 victory over Iona.
*She contributed 16 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals in a dominant 79-46 win against Wagner.
*The Glenn Dale, Md. native closed the week with a season-high 22 points against Radford, highlighted by a 16-of-17 performance at the free-throw line, the fourth-most made free throws in a single game in program history.
PenFed Credit Union Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week
Mary Gibbons, Navy, Fr., G, Holden, Mass./ Wachusett Regional
*Gibbons delivered two double-digit scoring performances off the bench for
Navy during its 3-0 week, tallying 17 points against Wagner and 13 points against Radford.
*Over the three games, Gibbons sank seven three-pointers on 13 attempts, tying for the team lead in three-point shooting percentage for the season at .545.
*For the week, the shooting guard averaged 12.0 points per game, contributing 2.3 three-pointers per contest while shooting .462 from the field, .538 from beyond the arc, and .833 from the free-throw line.

*Sofilkanich posted three consecutive 20+ point games, including a career-high 27 points against FDU, the NEC preseason favorite, and 20 points in 18 minutes against Merrimack.

*Albrecht tallied a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds in the 62-55 win over Brown, shooting 7-of-11 (63%) from the field while adding two assists, a block, and a steal.

*Weisman scored 12 points across two games, including 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting against Merrimack.
