BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Boston University and Bucknell both received two postseason awards, while American and Colgate each received one as the Patriot League office announced its postseason honors on Thursday.
American junior forward Troy Elgersma earned Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year after leading the League in assists (6) and helping the Eagles secure the No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Championship.
Boston University junior midfielder Diego Rived was named Patriot League Midfielder of the Year after starting every game for the Terriers this season. Teammate and junior defender Quin DeLaMater garnered Defensive Player of the Year honors, anchoring a defense that led Boston University to the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League Championship.
Bucknell junior goalkeeper Fred Lapworth was awarded Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, ranking first in League play in goals-against average (0.556) and second in save percentage (0.815).
Colgate freshman Blake Pipkin received Patriot League Rookie of the Year after recording six goals and two assists for the Raiders.
Bucknell head coach David Brandt was named Patriot League Coach of the Year after leading the Bison to a 4-1-4 Patriot League record and sharing the regular-season title for the first time since 2009.
Eleven student-athletes were named to the All-Patriot League teams. American, Boston University, and Lafayette led with four selections each, while Bucknell, Lehigh, Loyola Maryland, Colgate, and Navy each had three selections. Holy Cross (2) and Army West Point (1) round out the list.
The major awards and All-Patriot League teams were voted on by the League’s 10 head coaches, who could not vote for their own Student-athletes or themselves.
2024 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year
Troy Elgersma, American, Jr., F, Redlands, Calif. / Redlands
*Elgersma led the League in assists (6), tied for second in game-winning goals (2), and tied for fifth in points (12).
*The junior forward started all 17 games for the Eagles, which was tied for second in goals scored (22).
*Through 53 appearances Elgersma has tallied 27 points, with seven goals and 13 assists.
2024 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year
Diego Rived, Boston University, Jr., M, Zaragoza, Spain / Doral Academy Prep (Fla.)
*Rived started all 17 games, logging one goal and two assists for five points, including his first career goal against Army West Point.
*The junior midfielder helped Boston University record four shutouts en route to a share of the regular-season title and a 4-1-4 League record.
*The Zaragoza, Spain native has seven career points in 53 appearances for the Terriers.
2024 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year
Quin DeLaMater, Boston University, Jr., D, Marietta, Ga. /Hillgrove
*DeLaMater started 15 games, scoring three goals and adding three assists for nine points, while leading the Terrier defense to the No. 1 seed.
*The junior defender contributed to four shutouts for Boston University this season.
*A 2024 Patriot League Preseason All-League and one-time Player of the Week honoree, DeLaMater has appeared in 41 games, starting 33.
2024 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year
Fred Lapworth, Bucknell, Jr., GK, Banbury, England / Banbury Academy
*Lapworth recorded a League-best seven shutouts and ranked second in saves (59) and goals-against average (1.059) over 17 games.
*The junior earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors in consecutive weeks, with five shutouts in League play. Lapworth posted the best goals-against average in the League (.556).
*In his career, Lapworth has made 115 saves and posted eight shutouts in 35 games for Bucknell.
2024 Patriot League Rookie of the Year
Blake Pipkin, Colgate, Fr., F, Houston, Texas / Ridge Point
*Pipkin finished his debut season with six goals and two assists for 14 points, starting 15 games.
*The Houston native earned one Patriot League Rookie of the Week award, tied for second in the League in goals (6) and ranked fourth in points (14).
2024 Patriot League Coach of the Year
David Brandt, Bucknell
*Brandt ed Bucknell to the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Men’s Soccer Championship and a share of the regular-season title with Boston University.
*He guided the Bison to a 6-6-5 overall record (4-1-4 League), improving their point total by 13 overall and 11 in the League
*In his third season, Brandt has led the Bison to their first postseason berth since 2019 and first regular-season title since 2009.
*This is Brandt’s second time being named Patriot League Coach of the Year as he won the award in 2013 while coaching at Navy.
