BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University senior guard Alex Giannaros was named the Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while freshman teammate Channing Warren earned the PenFed Credit Union Rookie of the Week honor, as announced by the League office on Monday.
Giannaros was named Patriot League Player of the Week after scoring 23 points while going 4-for-4 from 3-point range in the Terriers’ 77-56 win over Yale.
Warren was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week, scoring a season-high 15 points on 7-of-12 from the field for the Terriers.
Colgate senior forward Sophia Diehl and Army West Point sophomore forward Kya Smith received honorable mentions.
The Patriot League women’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s sports information director, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

PenFed Credit Union Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

*Giannaros led the Terriers with 23 points on 7-of-9 shooting, including a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range, in a 77-56 triumph over Yale.
*The senior made her first seven shots of the game and added three rebounds and a steal.
*Giannaros moved into fifth place in Terriers history in career 3-pointers and 18th in career points during the game.
PenFed Credit Union Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week
Channing Warren, Boston University, Fr., F, Orlando, Fla./ Timber Creek
*Warren scored a career-high 15 points in the Terriers’ 77-56 win over Yale.
*The freshman went 7-of-12 from the field and added six rebounds and two steals, all of which mark personal bests.
*Warren went on a 7-0 run by herself in the third quarter to help the Terriers reach a season-high in scoring.
Honorable Mentions
Sophia Diehl, Colgate, Sr., F, Westminster, Md./ Roland Park County School
Diehl led all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range, in the Raiders' 66-47 win over Canisius. She added three rebounds, an assist and a steal to help achieve its first season in Division I with double-digit, non-conference wins.
Kya Smith, Army West Point, So., F, Lubbock, Tex./ Coronado
*Smith led Army to an 85-36 win over Mount Saint Mary College with a team-high 13 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks. The sophomore shot 50 percent from the field and posted a +25 plus/minus.
