BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Holy Cross senior guard Bronagh Power-Cassidy earned the 2023-24 Patriot League Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year accolade when it was announced by the League office on Monday.
Power-Cassidy is also one of the five members of the sport's Academic All-Patriot League team. American graduate student forward Lauren Stack (creative writing, 3.83 graduate degree), Lafayette junior guard Abby Antognoli (economics, 3.95), Lehigh senior guard Maddie Albrecht (biology, 3.78) and Navy sophomore guard Maren Louridas (cyber operations, 4.0) all earned a spot on the academic team.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key player within his/her sport. Freshmen or student-athletes in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for each sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards given out during the summer.
2023-24 Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Bronagh Power-Cassidy, Holy Cross, Sr., G, Dublin, Ireland/Marianapolis Prep
* Power-Cassidy, a 2023-24 First-Team All-League member, owns a 3.77 GPA as a psychology major at Holy Cross.
* She is a five-time Dean’s List recipient at Holy Cross and a three-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll member.
* Last season she was named to both the 2022-23 Patriot League Women’s Basketball Academic All-Patriot League team and the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
* The senior heads into the Patriot League’s postseason averaging 16.6 points per game, good for third in the conference.
* In 18 League games, she leads the League in three-point percentage (42.7). three-pointers (50) and three-pointers per game (2.8).
2023-24 Women’s Basketball Academic All-Patriot League Team
Three Academic All-Patriot League selections were named to one of the three All-Patriot League squads on Friday. Power-Cassidy earned first-team honors, while Antognoli and Albrecht were third-team honorees.
Stack is a four-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and finished the year with a total of 202 points and 128 rebounds.
Antognoli (12.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg), a five-time Dean’s List member at Lafayette, was named the institution’ Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2022-23. She is a member of the Investment Club, Women in Finance Club, Empowering Female Athletes (EFA) and Lafayette Environmental Awareness and Protection (LEAP).
Albrecht finished the regular season averaging 9.8 points per game and has been named to the League’s Academic Honor Roll for three-straight years.
Louridas (5.9 ppg, 5.0 rpg) is a three-time honoree on the Commandant’s List at Navy. She is ranked first in the Academy's Academic Order of Merit for the Class of 2026.
