Colgate Defeats UAlbany in First Round of WNIT (3.21.24)

HAMILTON, N.Y.  – The Colgate women’s basketball team registered its first WNIT win in program history with a 64-50 victory versus UAlbany on Thursday night.
 
Colgate will travel to take on Providence on Monday, March 25 at 7 p.m. at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. in the second round. The game will be available on FloSports.

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate recorded its first postseason win in 20 years as the Raiders defeated UAlbany, 64-50, in the first round of the WNIT on Thursday night.
* The Raiders had three double-digit scorers: junior guard Taylor Golembiewski (17), junior forward Sophia Diehl (16), and senior forward Tiasia McMillan (13).
* Golembiewski went 8-for-12 from the field while Diehl went a perfect 4-for-4 from the perimeter.
* The Raiders shot 51.0 percent (25-for-49) from the field and 60 percent (6-for-10) from the arc.
* Colgate holds a 10-5 advantage in the all-time series against the Great Danes.
* UAlbany senior guard Sarah Cooper finished with a game-high 23 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal.
* Graduate student Sarah Karpell scored 12 points, while junior guard Meghan Huerter scored 11 points – nine off three-pointers.
