Five important League games on ESPN+ on Saturday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Saturday brings a full slate of Patriot League women’s lacrosse games. All 10 teams are in action with five games on ESPN+.
 
Four games start at noon, with No. 18 Navy looking to get back on track when they travel to Boston University. American hosts Colgate, and Army West Point welcomes Lafayette. No. 8 Loyola Maryland travels to Lehigh for a noon meeting after a midweek win over the Mids. Holy Cross puts its six-game win streak on the line when they host Bucknell at 1 p.m.

MIDWEEK ACTION FOR THREE PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE TEAMS
On Wednesday, No. 8 Loyola Maryland defeated No. 18 Navy in a battle of the League’s two ranked teams. The Greyhounds outscored the Mids 9-2 in the second quarter to take control of the game. Senior attack Sydni Black finished with eight points on five goals and three assists, while reigning Patriot League Midfielder of the Week Chase Boyle posted four goals, two caused turnovers and a game-high 12 draw controls. Junior attack Georgia Latch added seven points on three goals and four assists for the Greyhounds. Navy junior midfielder Emily Messinese scored a team-high four goals.

Holy Cross won its sixth straight victory, downing Stonehill, 19-10, on Wednesday. Crusaders’ junior midfielder Ella Kittredge scored a team-high five goals to go with four ground balls, two caused turnovers and two draw controls. Junior attack Isabela Miller posted a game-high nine points with three goals and six assists, while classmate Sally Zinsner finished with four goals and three assists.

TWO LEAGUE TEAMS RANKED IN THE ILWOMEN/IWLCA POLL AFTER WEEK THREE
Two Patriot League women’s lacrosse teams were ranked in this week’s ILWomen/IWLCA Division I Poll. Three-time defending Patriot League Champion Loyola Maryland checked in at No. 8 after a 14-13 victory over Army West Point. Navy remained No. 18 after defeating Colgate, 19-7, in its League opener.

The Greyhounds moved up to No. 8 in the USA Lacrosse Division I Women’s Top 20 Poll, released on March 18. The Mids are receiving votes in the poll.

PATRIOT LEAGUE PLAYERS EARN CONSECUTIVE IWLCA RECOGNITION
Loyola Maryland junior goalkeeper Lauren Spence was the second straight Patriot League goalkeeper to earn IWLCA DI Defensive Player of the Week honors on March 12. She led the Greyhounds to wins against Georgetown (17-5) and Towson (16-3). The Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week posted a .824 save percentage and a 2.02 goals-against average to receive the honor. 
 
Holy Cross senior goalkeeper Tori Cini claimed IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week on March 5 after leading the Crusaders to their first win over UMass since 2009 with a career-high 17 saves. She faced 37 shots and allowed just 10 goals against the Minutewomen.
 
SIX PATRIOT LEAGUERS AMONG NCAA TOP-40 GOAL SCORERS
Loyola Maryland junior midfielder Chase Boyle leads the Patriot League and is sixth in NCAA DI with 4.38 goals per game, with teammates Sydni Black (3.75) and Sydni Black (3.38) 20th and 31st, respectively. The Greyhounds boast the 10th-ranked scoring offense in NCAA DI with 16.00 goals per game. Navy junior midfielder Emily Messinese (3.44) and attacker Tori DiCarlo (3.33) are 26th and 33rd goals per game to help Navy rank 18th in NCAA DI in scoring offense (15.11). Holy Cross junior midfielder Sally Zinsner is tied with DiCarlo in goals per game with 3.33.
 
GREYHOUNDS WINNING BIG
In addition to Loyola Maryland’s 10th-ranked scoring offense (16.00 gpg), they are 14th in NCAA DI in scoring defense, tied with Lehigh for a League-low 9.00 goals allowed per game. This has helped head coach Jen Adams and the Greyhounds post the seventh-best scoring margin in the country, beating opponents by an average of 7.00 goals per game.
 
LEHIGH, NAVY AND LOYOLA MARYLAND AMONG NCAA DI TOP 10 IN DRAW CONTROL PERCENTAGE
Loyola Maryland leads the Patriot League and is second in NCAA DI with a .667 draw control percentage, while Boyle is third in the nation with 10.50 draw controls per game. Lehigh is second in the League and sixth in the country with a .628 draw control percentage, with graduate student midfielder Cassie Marte placing 12th in the nation with 7.86 draw controls per game. Navy is third in the League and seventh in the nation with a .624 draw control percentage, while junior Alyssa Daley is ninth with 8.33 draw controls per game.
 
FIVE AMONG NCAA DI TOP-40 IN SAVE PERCENTAGE
Lehigh senior goalkeeper Hayley Hunt leads the Patriot League and is fourth in NCAA DI with a .543 save percentage during the Mountain Hawks’ 5-2 start. Lafayette senior Lexie Coldiron is 10th in NCAA DI in save percentage (.507), with American junior Caleigh Forti ranking 17th in save percentage (.487) and ninth in saves per game (10.44). Holy Cross’s Cini is 36th in the nation in save percentage (.455), and Loyola Maryland junior goalkeeper Lauren Spence (.446) is 39th to help their respective squads to hot starts.
 
CRUSADERS DRILLOCK AND MILLER CLIMB INTO NCAA TOP-20 ASSISTS LEADERS
Holy Cross junior attack Isabella Miller is sixth in NCAA DI with 27 assists and seventh with 3.0 assists per game, while teammate and senior attacker Lauren Drillock is 17th with 20 assists. Her 2.22 assists per game is 25th in the nation. They are joined atop the League and NCAA DI rankings by Loyola Maryland junior attack Georgia Latch, who is 24th with 18 assists and 22nd with 2.25 assists per game.
 
LEHIGH’S SCHNEIDER AND EBERHARDT CLIMBING PATRIOT LEAGUE AND NCAA CAREER LISTS
Lehigh graduate student attack Gabby Schneider is seventh in Patriot League history with 127 career assists and eighth among active players with 2.03 assists per game. Last season, she passed Mountain Hawk great Allison LaBeau (105 career assists) to become Lehigh’s career assists leader. She also became the 33rd player in Patriot League history to eclipse 200 career points. Her 261 points are tied for 15th among the Patriot League’s career leaders, while her 4.14 points per game are 11th among NCAA DI active leaders. Graduate student teammate Emma Eberhardt is 28th in League history with 225 points, 26th among active NCAA DI players.
 
THREE PATRIOT LEAGUERS AMONG NCAA ACTIVE GOAL SCORERS
Lehigh’s Eberhardt (135) and Schneider (134) are 44th and 46th among NCAA DI active goal-scoring leaders. Loyola Maryland attack Sydni Black, the 2023 Patriot League Championship Most Valuable Player, has 132 career goals and is 47th in the NCAA. Eberhardt is 39th in Patriot League history in goals, while Schneider is 40th. Black is 41st in League history.
 
LOYOLA’S SPENCE AMONG NATION’S GAA CAREER LEADERS
Loyola Maryland’s Spence is third among active NCAA DI leaders with a 7.53 goals-against average in three seasons between the pipes for the Greyhounds. She has a career record of 27-3 while appearing in 43 games.
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S LACROSSE ON CBS SPORTS NETWORK
The 2024 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship Game will be aired on Saturday, May 4, with live coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. The regular-season meeting between Patriot League runner-up Army West Point and semifinalist Navy is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 (4:15 p.m.).
