Holy Cross Women’s Basketball Falls to Iowa in NCAA First Round (3.23.24)

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The 2024 Patriot League Women’s Basketball Champions, the Holy Cross Crusaders ended their season with a 91-65 loss to No. 1 Iowa in front of a sold-out crowd in the 2024 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament First Round.
 
Holy Cross played their third NCAA Tournament game under fourth-year Head Coach Maureen Magarity, with the most recent win in Thursday’s First Four game versus UT Martin (72-45). Holy Cross owns both of the League’s victories in the NCAA Tournament.
 
The Crusaders were the lone men's or women's basketball team to represent the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the NCAA Division I Tournament. The team’s 65 points are the fourth-most points scored in an NCAA Tournament game in program history.

Senior guard Bronagh Power-Cassidy, the two-time Patriot League Championship most valuable player, finished the game with 19 points, 17 coming in the first half. She hit four three-pointers and added three assists and three steals. She ends her four years at Holy Cross with 1,425 points.

Senior forward Janelle Allen had 18 points, while guard Cara McCormack added 11 points, five rebounds and two steals.
 
Iowa had four players score double digits in the Hawkeyes’ win, led by Caitlin Clark’s 27-point performance.

* Senior forward Callie Wright grabbed a team-leading seven rebounds.
* Iowa senior guard Caitlin Clark led all players was two rebounds shy of a triple-double as she led the Hawkeyes with 27 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds and three steals.
* Graduate student guard Kate Martin had 15 points and 14 rebounds, junior forward Addison O’Grady scored 14 points and fifth-year guard Gabbie Marshall scored 11 points.
