PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Colgate women’s basketball team earned a 54-41 win over Big East opponent Providence on Monday night in the 2024 WNIT Second Round.
Colgate became the first Patriot League team to advance through the second round of the WNIT and will travel to Burlington, Vt., on Friday, March 29, to take on the Vermont Catamounts in the
Super 16. Earlier tonight, the Catamounts defeated Niagara, 69-63, in their second-round matchup.
The Raiders recorded their first Division I postseason victory when they defeated Albany, 64-50, in the first round of the WNIT on Thursday, March 21.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior guard Taylor Golembiewski scored a game-high 17 points to lead Colgate to a 54-41 victory over Providence in the 2024 WNIT Second Round at Alumni Hall on the campus of Providence College on Monday.
*Golembiewski connected on 5-of-12 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line while grabbing three rebounds and three steals to help the Raiders become the first Patriot League squad to advance past the WNIT Second Round.
* Raiders’ fifth-year guard Alex Brodie finished with 13 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
* Junior forward Sophia Diehl grabbed a game-high nine boards to go with nine points and two assists.
* Leading by three points at the half, Colgate pulled away after the break, limiting the Friars to 11.1 percent (1-for-9) shooting in the third quarter and 28.6 percent (4-for-14) shooting in the fourth.
* The Raiders shot 55.6 percent (5-for-9) in the fourth quarter, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, their best shooting quarter of the game.
* Providence sophomore guard Brynn Farrell scored nine points, while junior guard Marta Morales Romero had eight points and seven rebounds.
