Patriot League Announces 2025 Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Accolades (1.23.25)

Greyhounds claim top spot in the preseason poll and all four major awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Five-time defending champion Loyola Maryland finished atop the 2025 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Poll and collected all four major awards when the League office announced preseason honors on Thursday.
 
Head coach Jen Adams and the Greyhounds received 161 points and 17 first-place votes. Navy and head coach Cindy Timchal placed second in the preseason poll with 145 points and the remaining three first-place votes after falling in the 2024 Patriot League title game.
 
Army West Point received 130 points to finish third, while Holy Cross and the League’s reigning coach of the year, Amanda Belichick, ranked fourth in the poll with 112 points. Lehigh (87), American (74), Bucknell (68), Colgate (64), Boston University (35) and Lafayette (24) rounded out the 10-team preseason poll.
 
The Mids placed a League-high five student-athletes on the 16-member Preseason All-Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Team. The Greyhounds had four preseason All-League selections, including major award winners Georgia Latch (Sr., A), Chase Boyle (Sr., M), Lily Osborne (Sr., D) and Lauren Spence (Sr., GK).
 
The Crusaders had three honorees on the preseason squad, while two student-athletes represented the Black Knights. Bucknell and Colgate each had one player receive recognition.
 
Voting for the Patriot League women’s lacrosse preseason poll, major awards and All-League team is conducted by League head coaches and athletics communications contacts. Neither group was permitted to vote for their student-athletes or team.
 
2025 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Attacker of the Year
Georgia Latch, Loyola Maryland, Sr., Attack, Melbourne, Australia/Williamstown
2024 Stats: 21 games, 62 G, 40 A, 102 P, .440 SH%, .638 SOG%, 14 GB, 61 DC
*Latch is a three-time First Team All-Patriot League selection, having helped the Greyhounds to three straight League crowns. She earned 2023 Patriot League Attacker of the Year and 2022 Patriot League Rookie of the Year.
*The two-time IWLCA All-America honoree enters the season eighth Patriot League history in assists (122), 15th in points (267), and 37th in goals (145).
*Last season, she ranked seventh in NCAA DI in points (102), 23rd in assists (40) and 24th in goals (62) for a Loyola Maryland squad that ranked 10th in the nation in scoring offense (15.52).
 
2025 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Midfielder of the Year

2024 Stats: 21 games, 85 G, 16 A, 101 P, .506 SH%, .780 SOG%, 21 GB, 19 CT, 208 DC
*Boyle is a two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection, earning 2024 Patriot League and IWLCA Midfielder of the Year honors.
*The Tewaaraton Award finalist and 2024 All-America selection broke the Patriot League’s single-season record with 208 draw controls, finishing fifth in NCAA DI with 9.9 draw controls per game.
*She led the Patriot League and ranked second in NCAA DI with 85 goals, the second-highest single-season mark in League history. She ranks 25th in League history with 166 career goals.  
 
2025 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Defensive Player of the Year
Lily Osborne, Loyola Maryland, Sr., Defender, Oxford, Md./Easton
2024 Stats: 21 games, 1 G, 1 A, 2 P, .500 SH%, .500 SOG%, 27 GB, 25 CT, 1 DC
*Osborne is a two-time All-Patriot League selection, 2024 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and USA Lacrosse All-America honoree.
*She recorded 27 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers to help Loyola Maryland lead the Patriot League and rank sixth in NCAA DI in scoring defense (8.48 gpg).
*The senior defender led a Greyhounds backline in limiting 10 opponents to single-digit goal totals, holding Patriot League opponents to 62 goals.
 
2025 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year
Lauren Spence, Loyola Maryland, Sr., Goalkeeper, Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen
2024 Stats: 21 games, 1,069:17 minutes, 8.64 GAA, 154 saves, .462 SV%, 18 W, 3 L
*Spence is a two-time All-Patriot League selection, a two-time All-America honoree and the 2023 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year.
*Last season, she led the Patriot League and ranked fourth in NCAA DI with an 8.64 goals-against average and fourth in the League with a .462 save percentage.
*The senior goalkeeper has guided the Greyhounds to three straight League titles.

2025 Patriot League Preseason Women’s Lacrosse Team by the Numbers
Fifteen of the 16 preseason team selections were selected to one of the two 2024 All-Patriot League squads, including 11 first-team honorees and three major award winners. Loyola Maryland senior midfielder Chase Boyle and senior defender Lily Osborne were named the Patriot League Midfielder and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively. Navy sophomore midfielder Mikayla Williams claimed Rookie of the Year honors.
 
Army West Point junior attacker Allison Reilly and junior midfielder Brigid Duffy, Holy Cross senior midfielder Ella Kittredge and senior attack Isabela Miller, Loyola’s Boyle, Latch, Osborne and Spence, Navy senior defender Alyssa Daley, senior attack Tori DiCarlo and senior attack Emily Messinese all received 2024 All-Patriot League First Team honors.
 
Four more preseason honorees claimed 2024 second-team, including Bucknell senior Allie Boyce, Colgate senior attack Lucy Licata, Holy Cross junior defender Racheli Levy-Smith and Navy’s Williams.
