2025 Patriot League Women’s Soccer Postseason Awards Announced (10.31.25)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Top-seeded Boston University earned three of this year's six Patriot League Women’s Soccer major awards, when the League office announced its postseason honors on Friday morning. Army West Point received two honors, while Holy Cross garnered one.

Army West Point senior forward Brigid Duffy was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year after leading the League in goals (13) and points (27). Duffy is the fifth Black Knight to collect the honor, joining Erynn Johns (2020-21), Holly Pedley (1994, 1997) and Alexis Albano (1995).

Boston University senior Giulianna Gianino was selected as the Patriot League Midfielder of the Year after leading the League in assists (11) and ranking second in points (25). Gianino is the first Terrier to collect the award since its introduction in 2016.

Terriers senior Helene Tyburczy was tabbed the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year after leading Boston University to nine shutouts during the regular season and helping hold opponents to 0.56 goals per game in League play.

Holy Cross freshman Aubrey Haesche collected Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year honors after leading the League in goals-against average (0.619), save percentage (.897) and shutouts (6). Haesche became the first Crusader to receive the recognition and the second freshman overall in League history.

Army West Point freshman Sophia Henry was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year, becoming the second consecutive Black Knight to earn the honor after recording nine goals and two assists for 20 points, the fourth-most in the Patriot League.

After guiding the Terriers to the Patriot League regular-season title and the No. 1 seed, Boston University collected Patriot League Coaching Staff of the Year honors under first-year head coach Megan Burke.

Eleven student-athletes were named to both the first and second All-Patriot League teams, while 12 student-athletes landed on the third team. Army West Point led the way with eight All-League selections, followed by Boston University with seven and Colgate with six honorees. Navy placed three members on All-League teams, followed by Holy Cross (2), Lafayette (2), Loyola Maryland (2), Lehigh (2), American (1) and Bucknell (1).

Boston University’s Gianino earned All-Patriot League honors for the fourth time, joining 32 Patriot League student-athletes who have achieved All-League recognition four times.

The major awards and All-Patriot League teams were voted on by the ten Patriot League women's soccer head coaches, who could not vote for their student-athletes or themselves.

2025 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year
Brigid Duffy, Army West Point, Sr., Midfielder/Forward, Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury
*Duffy finished the regular season leading the Patriot League in points (27), goals (13) and game-winning goals (7).
*A two-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, the senior registered 15 points on seven goals and one assist during League play.
*In 71 appearances for the Black Knights, Duffy has recorded 29 goals and eight assists for 66 points.
*Duffy was selected First Team All-Patriot League in 2023 and 2025 and was a Second-Team honoree in 2024.
*The Queensbury, N.Y., native is a six-time All-Patriot League selection across women’s soccer and women’s lacrosse, including First Team honors from 2022–25.

2025 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year
Giulianna Gianino, Boston University, Sr., Midfielder, Norwell, Mass./Norwell
*Gianino was named the 2025 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year after earning the preseason honor.
*The Norwell, Mass. native recorded a League-high 11 assists, tied for fourth in NCAA Division I, to go along with seven goals for 25 points, which ranked second in the Patriot League.
*The senior collected three Patriot League Midfielder of the Week honors during the season and finished her career with eight weekly awards.
*In 78 career games, Gianino recorded 71 points on 25 goals and 21 assists.
*She was named to the All-Patriot League First Team in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and was a Second Team selection in 2022.

2025 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year
Helene Tyburczy, Boston University, Sr., Defender, Ramsey, N.Y./Ramsey
*Tyburczy helped anchor a defensive line that held opponents to a Patriot League-low 0.56 goals per game in League play as Boston University clinched the top spot in the championship.
*The senior, who earned the preseason honor, assisted the Terriers to nine shutouts this season, including seven during Patriot League games.
*On the offensive end, the senior scored two goals for the Terriers.
*The Ramsey, N.Y. native is now a two-time All-Patriot League First Team selection (2024-25).

2025 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year
Aubrey Haesche, Holy Cross, Fr., Goalkeeper, New City, N.Y./Albertus Magnus
*In 17 games, Haesche recorded a League-best 0.619 goals-against average, a .897 save percentage and shutouts (6), while making 87 saves, which ranked third in the League.
*The freshman collected three Goalkeeper of the Week honors during the regular season.
*The New City, N.Y. native is the first Crusader in program history to be recognized as the Goalkeeper of the Year and second freshman overall, joining Lehigh’s Julie Kafka (2005).
*Among NCAA Division I rankings, Haesche is second in save percentage and 19th in goals-against average.

2025 Patriot League Rookie of the Year
Sophia Henry, Army West Point, Fr., Forward, Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock
*Henry finished her freshman season with 20 points on nine goals and two assists, making seven starts in 17 games.
*She led all rookies in points and goals, ranking fourth and second, respectively, in the Patriot League.
*The freshman is the second consecutive Black Knight to earn Rookie of the Year honors and the sixth overall (Bella Conti – 2024, Kim An – 2010, Delaney Brown – 2002, Emily Harrington – 1995, Holly Pedley – 1994).
*The Springfield, Va. native was honored as the Patriot League Rookie of the Week a record six times during the regular season.

2025 Patriot League Coach of the Year
Boston University – Head Coach: Megan Burke; Assistant Coaches: Marcus Carrington, Amy Thompson
*Under the direction of first-year head coach Megan Burke, the Terriers ended the regular season on a seven-match winning streak, including six consecutive shutouts, to capture the regular-season title and the No. 1 seed in the 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship.
*Burke and the Terriers finished Patriot League play at 7-1-1 (.833), the best winning percentage in League play since 2018 (Boston University – 7-0-2).
*In League play, the Terriers led the way in scoring average (2.66) and opponents’ scoring average (0.56).
