Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week Announced (11.11.25)

Dufour, Lloyd and Shaffer collect weekly awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Bucknell received two of the three Patriot League women’s volleyball weekly awards, presented by Credit Union One, when the League office announced the honors on Tuesday. American earned the remaining weekly honor.

For the second time this season, Bucknell junior middle blocker Sidney Shaffer collected Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week honors after recording 29 kills on a .451 hitting percentage to help the Bison clinch a postseason berth.

Bison junior libero Cameron Lloyd was named the Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this year after totaling 55 digs, 13 assists and three service aces in Bucknell’s 2-0 weekend.

For the seventh time this season, American freshman outside hitter Sophie Dufour collected Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 4.67 kills per set in the Eagles’ 2-0 weekend.

Honorable mentions went to American sophomore setter Deniz Dakak, Army West Point freshman libero Annette Lee, Holy Cross freshman outside hitter Emma Sorensen and Lehigh junior middle blocker Madison McCartney.

The Patriot League women’s volleyball players of the week are selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their own student-athletes.

Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week
Sidney Shaffer, Bucknell, Jr., Middle Blocker, Orange County, Calif./Villa Park

*Shaffer led Bucknell to a 2-0 weekend with 29 kills on a .451 hitting percentage, along with eight blocks and five digs.
*In the four-set win over Holy Cross, the junior had 16 kills on an .800 hitting percentage, which set a new single-game program record, to go with two blocks and two digs.
*She added 13 kills, six blocks and three digs in the Bison’s 3-2 win against Colgate.
*The Orange County, Calif. native is eighth in the Patriot League in points per set (3.36) and fifth in hitting percentage (.328).

Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Cameron Lloyd, Bucknell, Jr., Libero/Defensive Specialist, Chapel Hill, N.C./Cedar Ridge

*Lloyd supplied 55 digs, 13 assists and three service aces in Bucknell’s 2-0 weekend, helping the Bison clinch a postseason berth.
*The junior recorded 31 digs in a four-set win over Holy Cross before recording a double-double with 24 digs and 10 assists against Colgate.
*The Chapel Hill, N.C. native ranks fourth in the Patriot League in digs per set (4.20).

Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Sophie Dufour, American, Fr., Outside Hitter, Frankfort, Ky./Franklin County

*Dufour recorded 28 kills (4.67 per set) on a .281 hitting percentage, along with 10 digs and two blocks in American’s sweeps of Loyola Maryland and Navy.
*She tallied a team-high 17 kills in the 3-0 victory over Navy, helping the Eagles clinch their first regular-season title since 2019.
*The freshman’s seven Rookie of the Week honors are one shy of the single-season record held by Army West Point’s Mary Vaccaro (2011).
*The Frankfort, Ky. native ranks second in the Patriot League in kills per set (3.84) and points per set (4.37).

*Dakak totaled 79 assists, 19 digs and nine blocks in American’s 2-0 weekend.
*In a sweep of Loyola Maryland, the sophomore recorded a double-double with 35 assists and 11 digs to go with three blocks.
*She added 44 assists, seven digs and six blocks in a three-set win at Navy on Sunday.
*The Istanbul, Turkey native leads the Patriot League in assists per set (10.53), which ranks 21st in NCAA Division I, and tied for eighth in service aces per set (0.32) in the League.

Annette Lee, Army West Point, Fr., Libero, Temecula, Calif./Great Oak
*Lee totaled 24 digs (3.43 per set), seven assists and a .930 reception percentage in Army West Point’s 1-1 weekend.
*In the Black Knights’ win at Lafayette, the freshman posted 19 digs and six assists.
*The Temecula, Calif. native ranks eighth in the Patriot League in digs per set (2.94).

Emma Sorensen, Holy Cross, Fr., Outside Hitter, Dallas, Texas/Ursuline Academy of Dallas
*Sorensen paced Holy Cross with 26 kills (3.71 kills per set), 10 digs and one block while hitting .297.
*The freshman ranks seventh in the Patriot League in kills per set (3.05) and points per set (3.42).

Madison McCartney, Lehigh, Jr., Middle Blocker, Arlington, Va./Yorktown
*McCartney tallied 10 blocks (1.67 per set), six kills, six digs, four aces and 2.50 points per set in Lehigh’s 2-0 weekend.
*In a sweep of Army West Point, the junior had seven blocks and three kills before adding three blocks, three kills and five digs in a 3-0 victory over Holy Cross.
*The Arlington, Va. native leads the Patriot League in blocks per set (1.29).
