No. 1 American Captures 2025 Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Title (11.23.25)

Eagles claim 17th Patriot League title and first since 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – No. 1 American (24-4, 15-1 PL) was crowned the 2025 Patriot League Women’s Volleyball champion after sweeping No. 3 Army West Point (19-9, 11-5 PL) on Sunday afternoon at Bender Arena in Washington, D.C.  

American captured its Patriot League-record 17th title and secured the League’s automatic berth to the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship. The Eagles make their first NCAA Championship appearance since 2019.

The Eagles set a Patriot League Championship record for team hitting percentage in a match, finishing at .529 to surpass Lehigh’s previous mark of .449 set in 1997.

American sophomore setter Deniz Dakak was named the Tournament MVP, while sophomore outside hitter Salme Adeele Hollas and junior middle blocker Prinzez Zeck joined Dakak on the All-Tournament Team.

Zeck set another Patriot League Championship record for the Eagles by posting a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage with 11 kills on 11 swings.

Army West Point senior outside hitters Mackenzie Lynch and Chloe Murakami represented the Black Knights on the All-Tournament squad.

Colgate junior outside hitter Milan Bayless and Navy freshman outside hitter Caroline Buffum rounded out the seven-member All-Tournament Team.

American will learn their first-round opponent when the NCAA Selection Show reveals the bracket on Sunday, Nov. 30, on ESPN.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Behind a Patriot League Championship-record .529 hitting percentage, No. 1 American swept No. 3 Army West Point to capture the 2025 Patriot League Women’s Volleyball title on Sunday at Bender Arena.

*Tournament MVP and 2025 Patriot League Player & Setter of the Year Deniz Dakak finished with 29 assists, six digs, two kills and two blocks.
*Junior middle blocker Prinzez Zeck posted a Patriot Championship record 1.000 hitting percentage, totaling 11 kills on 11 attacks to go with two blocks and two digs.
*The 2025 Patriot League Libero of the Year, Bella Marrero, logged eight digs, two aces and two assists. *The 2025 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Sophie Dufour added seven kills, five digs and two aces.
*Sophomore middle blocker Elise Sterling (five blocks, one ace) and sophomore outside hitter Salme Adeele Hollas (five digs, one block) each recorded eight kills.
*Army West Point senior outside hitter Chloe Murakami led the Black Knights with 10 kills, five digs, two assists and two aces.
*Senior outside hitter Mackenzie Lynch added eight kills and three digs, while junior setter Juliette Myrick contributed three kills, 13 assists, three digs and two blocks.
*Freshman outside hitter Janie Deapen (two digs, one block) and sophomore middle blocker Michelle Parker (two blocks) each recorded three kills.
*Sophomore setter Naomi Chinchar tallied eight assists, two digs and an ace,
*The Eagles held the advantage in hitting percentage (.529-.100), aces (8-3) and blocks (8-3).
