Patriot League Announces 2025 Men's and Women's Cross Country Academic Honors (11.5.25)

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Navy’s Justin Mumford has been named the 2025 Patriot League Men’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while Army West Point’s Charlotte Richman earned the honor on the women’s side, the League announced Wednesday.

Mumford captured the individual title at the 2025 Patriot League Championships, while Richman also claimed the women’s individual crown. Both were among seven student-athletes selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Teams for men’s and women’s cross country.

Mumford (Aerospace Engineering | 3.93 GPA) and Richman (Engineering Psychology | 3.69 GPA) are the only repeat Academic All-Patriot League honorees from the 2024 season.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in their sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor. 
 
2025 Patriot League Men’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year

*Mumford earned First Team All-Patriot League honors by finishing as individual champion at the Patriot League Championship with an 8K time of 23:59.0.   
*The aerospace engineering major carries a cumulative GPA of 3.93.
*He has earned All-Patriot League honors twice in his career.

2025 Patriot League Women’s Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year 
Charlotte Richman, Army West Point, Sr., Portland, Ore./Ida B. Wells-Barnett
*Richman earned First Team All-Patriot League honors for the second time in her career after finishing as the individual champion at the 2025 Patriot League Cross Country Championship with a 6K time of 20:19.4. 
*The West Point senior carries a 3.69 cumulative GPA in engineering psychology.  
   
Twelve Student-Athletes Make Cross Country Academic Squad for the First Time 
The 2025 campaign saw 12 first-time Academic All-Patriot League Cross Country selections; six on each squad. In men’s cross country, Holy Cross led the way with three honorees. The Crusaders – Liam Lyons (International Studies & philosophy | 3.56 GPA), Joseph Mahon (Computer Science | 3.56) and Ben Stone (psychology and health studies | 3.98 GPA) – earned nods for their academic accomplishments. Army West Point’s Max Haynia (Systems Engineering | 3.61 GPA), Bucknell’s Henry Didden (Environmental Studies & Economics | 3.62 GPA) and Navy’s Logan Flament (Electrical Engineering | 3.99 GPA) were also represented on the Academic All-League team.

Army West Point cadet-athletes Claire Lewis (Chemical Engineering | 4.09 GPA) and Mikayla Cheney (engineering psychology | 3.56 GPA) joined Richman on the Academic All-League team, giving the Black Knights three representatives. Bucknell’s Kailey Granger (Mechanical Engineering | 3.62 GPA) and Katie Moncavage (Arts | 3.79 GPA) each earned honors for the first time. Holy Cross’ Siena Brunetti (accounting | 3.96 GPA) and Lehigh’s Kaitlyn Highduch (Engineering | 3.90 GPA) rounded out the squad.

Five First-Team All-Patriot League Honorees Earn All-Academic Honors  
In men’s cross country, Mumford appeared on the Academic All-Patriot League team, while also earning first-team All-Patriot League honors for his performance at the 2025 Patriot League Cross Country Championships. He was joined by Holy Cross’ Joseph Mahon as a representative on both award lists. 

Richman earned 2025 first-team All-Patriot League honors following the championship meet while appearing on the All-Academic squad. Army West Point’s Cheney, Bucknell’s Granger and Holy Cross’ Brunetti each appeared on both lists.

Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year 
The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for each sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor, given out over the summer. One male and one female are selected for this honor.
