BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lafayette senior goalkeeper Raffi Fragomeni was selected as the 2025 Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year, in addition to being named to the 13-member Academic All-Patriot League Team when the League office announced academic honors on Wednesday.
Fragomeni (biology, 3.83 GPA) is the seventh Leopard to claim Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and first since Lisa van der Geest was recognized in 2019. The Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year is also the 14th League field hockey student-athlete to earn a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team three or more times.
Three more members of the 2025 Academic All-Patriot League squad were recognized last season, including two additional major award winners. American graduate student midfielder Agustina Roffo, the Patriot League Midfielder of the Year (neuroscience, 3.82 GPA), Bucknell senior defender Kira Leclercq (environmental geosciences, 3.77 GPA), the defensive player of the year and Boston University senior midfielder Megan Wetzel (business admin. & mgmt., 3.86 GPA) made the 2024 academic team.
All seven Patriot League institutions were represented on the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in his/her sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
These honors recognize student-athletes who excel in their sport and the classroom. The awards are voted on by Patriot League field hockey sports information directors, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*Fragomeni, the 2025 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, is a two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection
*She carries a 3.83 cumulative GPA as a biology major and chemistry major, becoming the 14th field hockey student-athlete in League history to make the Academic All-Patriot League team three or more times.
*The three-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week posted a 1.31 goals-against average (GAA) and .742 save percentage to help the Leopards finish 11-6 overall and 5-1 in League play.
*She is a three-time member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad, while being an active participant in the Lafayette field hockey team’s numerous community service initiatives.

Nine All-League Honorees Make Academic Squad
Four of the League’s five major award winners and nine of the 13 members of the Academic All-Patriot League Team were selected to one of the two All-League squads. Two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year Kira Leclercq, Lafayette’s Fragomeni, American’s Roffo and junior forward Jordan Reicher (environmental studies, 3.87 GPA), the League’s offensive player of the year, highlighted the team. Holy Cross junior midfielder Maguire Sturgis (biology, 3.60 GPA) and Lafayette junior defender Lena Thedrian (psychology/economics, 3.72 GPA) were first-team selections. American junior defender Sophie Willemse (info. Systems/tech & data science, 3.87 GPA), Holy Cross sophomore goalkeeper Mia McCloskey (math, 3.75 GPA) and Lehigh senior midfielder Kiki Mes (philosophy, 3.78) earned spots on the second team.
Nine Student-Athletes Make Academic Team for the First Time
Nine Patriot League field hockey student-athletes received academic distinction for the first time. American’s Reicher and Willemse, Colgate Lauren Widdowson (international relations, 3.71 GPA), Holy Cross’ McCloskey, Sturgis and Julia Carrozza (biology, 3.87 GPA), Lafayette’s Thedrian and Lehigh’s Mes and Annie Bibus (mechanical engineering, 3.87 GPA) claimed their initial academic nod.
Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year
The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for each sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards, announced at the conclusion of the academic year. Two field hockey student-athletes have been voted Patriot League Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year; Lafayette’s Alison Fisher (2001) and American’s Natalie Konerth (2017).
