BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Top-seeded American earned three of the six Patriot League Men’s Soccer major awards for 2025, as the League office announced its postseason honors on Friday. Bucknell received two honors, while Holy Cross collected one.
Bucknell senior forward Drew Roskos was named the 2025 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year after leading the League in goals (7) and helping the defending champions secure the No. 5 seed in the Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Men’s Soccer Championship.
American senior midfielder Troy Elgersma earned 2025 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year after ranking fourth in the League in total points (11) and helping guide the Eagles to a 7-1-1 record and their first regular-season League title since 2016.
Bucknell senior defender Jackson Sullivan received 2025 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year honors after anchoring a Bison backline that posted a League-best eight shutouts this season.
American senior goalkeeper Matthew Tibbetts was voted the 2025 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year after recording 52 saves and an .813 save percentage in League play, helping the Eagles secure the No. 1 seed for the postseason.
Holy Cross freshman forward Archie Hatcher earned 2025 Patriot League Rookie of the Year after finishing tied for second in the League in goals (6) and tied for first in total points (15).
The American coaching staff was selected as the 2025 Patriot League Coaching Staff of the Year. Under the direction of head coach Zach Samol, the Eagles finished 7-1-1 in League play and claimed their first regular-season title since 2016.
Twelve student-athletes were named to the All-Patriot League First Team, while eleven were selected to the Second and Third Teams. American led all programs with seven All-League honorees, followed by Bucknell and Lehigh with six each. Boston University collected five selections, Army West Point earned four, followed by Lafayette (3), Colgate (2) and Holy Cross (1).
The major awards and All-Patriot League teams were voted on by the League’s 10 head coaches, who could not vote for their own Student-athletes or themselves.
2025 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year
Drew Roskos, Bucknell, So., F, Delran, N.J./ Delran
*Roskos led the League in goals (7), tied for second in game-winning goals (2) and tied for first in total points (15).
*The sophomore forward started 17 games for a Bison squad that tied for first in the League in goals scored (28) while posting a 9-3-5 record and earning a berth in the Patriot League Championship.
*In 34 career games at Bucknell, Roskos has totaled 22 points on nine goals and four assists.
2025 Patriot League Midfielder of the Year
Troy Elgersma, American, Jr., F, Redlands, Calif./ Redlands
*Elgersma started all 15 games for the Eagles, finishing tied for third in the League in goals (5) and tied for fourth in points (11).
*The senior midfielder helped lead American to a 7-1-1 Patriot League record and its first regular-season League championship since 2016.
*In 70 career games, Elgersma has recorded 39 points on 12 goals and 15 assists, including three game-winning goals.
*This marks Elgersma’s second major award after earning the 2024 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year.
2025 Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year
Jackson Sullivan, Bucknell, Sr., D, La Grange Park, Ill./ Lyons Township
*Sullivan started all 17 games for the Bison, contributing two goals and one assist for five total points.
*The senior anchored a Bucknell defense that posted eight shutouts, including six in League play.
*In his career, Sullivan has appeared in 65 games with 54 starts, recording two goals, including one game-winner and three assists for seven points.
2025 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year
Matthew Tibbetts, American, Sr., GK, Westborough, Mass./ K12 Private Academy
*Tibbetts recorded three shutouts and ranked fourth in the League in goals-against average (1.067), helping lead American to its first regular-season League title since 2016.
*The senior finished with 52 saves (tied for fourth in the League) and an .813 save percentage in League play, ranking second.
*In his career, Tibbetts appeared in 55 games for the Eagles, posting nine shutouts and 188 total saves.
2025 Patriot League Rookie of the Year
Archie Hatcher, Holy Cross, Fr., F, Alkham, England/ Canterbury Academy
*Hatcher finished his debut season with six goals (second in the League), two game-winning goals (tied for second), and 15 points (tied for first).
*He recorded one of two hat tricks in the Patriot League this season, scoring three second-half goals to lift Holy Cross to a 3-2 win at Army West Point.
*The freshman earned two Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors this season (9.15, 10.20).
2025 Patriot League Coaching Staff of the Year
American Eagles - Head Coach: Zach Samol; Assistant Coaches: Patrick Mehlert, Zach Weidman and Jerry Zouantcha
*Under the direction of head coach Zach Samol, American posted a 7-1-1 League record to earn its first regular-season title since 2016 and the No. 1 seed in the 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Men’s Soccer Championship.
*The Eagles went unbeaten at home (6-0-1) and closed the season on a 3-0-1 run over their final four matches.
*In League play, American ranked second in goals scored (15), first in assists (17) and second in goals allowed (6).
