BOSTON, Mass. – No. 3 Army West Point (14-5-2, 5-3-1 PL) scored a pair of first-half goals and held off a late rally from No. 1 Boston University (11-5-3, 7-1-1 PL) to capture the 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer title with a 3-2 victory on Sunday afternoon at Nickerson field.
Army West Point claimed the program’s fourth Patriot League title and first since 2011. The Black Knights also earned the League’s automatic berth into the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship.
Black Knights’ junior forward Sabrina Rogers was named Patriot League Tournament MVP after recording her second brace of the season, which included the game-winning goal that put Army West Point ahead 3-1 in the 82nd minute. She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by teammates Brigid Duffy (Sr., F), Jordan Follenweider (Sr., D) and Sophia Henry (Fr., F). Duffy assisted on all three of Army West Point’s goals, setting a single-game record in the Patriot League Women’s Soccer Tournament.
Boston University junior forward Ava Maguire (58th minute) and sophomore forward Olivia Avellar (83rd minute) scored both Terriers’ goals as they each garnered a spot on the All-Tournament Team alongside teammate Giulianna Gianino (Sr., M), who finished the postseason with four assists, the most in Patriot League Tournament history.
Colgate’s Ari Bezanson (Sr., M) and Josie Tunney (So., F) and Lafayette’s April McDonald (Sr., M) and Nadia Zaffanella (Jr., M) rounded out the 11-member All-Patriot League Tournament Team.
The Black Knights will learn their postseason fate on Monday, Nov. 10 when the bracket is unveiled during the 2025 NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Tournament Selection Show at 4 p.m., available on

BOSTON, Mass. – No. 2 Army West Point used a pair of first-half goals and held off a late rally from No. 1 Boston University as the Black Knights topped the Terriers, 3-2, in the 2025 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Soccer Championship Game on Sunday afternoon at Nickerson Field.
*The Black Knights earned their first Patriot League title since 2011 and fourth overall in program history.
*Army West Point grabbed a 1-0 lead just 3:03 into the match as senior forward and 2025 Offensive Player of the Year Brigid Duffy connected on a through ball to junior forward Sabrina Rogers, who netted her seventh goal of the season.
*The Black Knights snapped a 659 minute shutout streak for the Terriers with that goal.
*Freshman forward and 2025 Rookie of the Year Sophia Henry extended the Black Knights’ lead to 2-0 in the 38th minute, corralling a loose ball in the box before firing a shot into the left side of the net. Duffy was credited with her second assist of the afternoon.
*Boston University broke through in 58th minute as junior forward Ava Maguire scored her fifth goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1. Senior forward Margy Porta and senior midfielder and 2025 Midfielder of the Year Giulianna Gianino assisted on the score.
*Army West Point regained a two-goal advantage in the 82nd minute when Duffy dropped off a pass to Rogers, who delivered her second goal of the game to put the Black Knights in front 3-1.
*The Terriers answered right back 50 seconds later as sophomore forward Olvia Avellar headed in a cross from Maguire to trim the Black Knights’ lead to 3-2.
*Army West Point sophomore goalkeeper Karalyn Dail finished with four saves in the win, while BU sophomore goalkeeper Bridget Carr made three saves.
*BU held the advantage in shots (18-9) and corner kicks (4-3), while both teams had six shots on goal.
