BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Lafayette junior guard Teresa Kiewiet was named the Patriot League PenFed Credit Union Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Lehigh freshman forward Leia Edwards earned Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the League office on Monday.
Kiewiet collected Player of the Week recognition for the second straight week after averaging 24.5 points per game in Lafayette’s games against FDU and Marist.
Edwards earned Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive week after averaging a double-double in the Mountain Hawks’ 1-1 week.
Honorable mention recognition went to Loyola Maryland graduate forward Lex Therien, Army West Point junior forward Kya Smith, Navy junior guard Zanai Barnett-Gay, Navy freshman guard Zoe Mesuch, and American freshman forward Charlotte Tuhy.
The Patriot League women’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s sports information director, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*Kiewiet averaged 24.5 points over two games, including 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting at FDU and a season-high 25 points with five threes vs. Marist.
*The junior added all-around production with eight total rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block on the week.
*Kiewiet ranks third in the Patriot League in scoring at 17.6 points per game.

Leia Edwards, Lehigh, Fy., F, London, England/Sierra Canyon
*Edwards averaged 19.0 points, 10.5 rebounds in the Mountain Hawks’ 1-1 week.
*The first year had a 21-point, nine-rebound effort vs. Cornell and a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double at Mount St. Mary’s.
*Edwards now leads the Mountain Hawks in scoring (13.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 rpg) this season.

Lex Therien, Loyola Maryland, Gr., F, Marlton, N.J./Cherokee
Therien logged her third straight 20-point double-double with 26 points and 10 rebounds at Towson, going 10-for-10 at the line, including the go-ahead free throws in overtime. She scored 12 of her 26 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, while adding three offensive rebounds, two assists and a block.
Kya Smith, Army West Point, Jr., F, Lubbock, Tex./Coronado
Smith led Army to a 2–0 week with 17 points and 15 rebounds vs. Saint Peter’s and 16 points (15 in the fourth quarter) in the win over previously undefeated UMass. She averaged 16.5 points and 12 rebounds on the week.
Zanai Barnett-Gay, Navy, Jr., G, Glenn Dale, Md./ Riverdale Baptist
Barnett-Gay led Navy with 18.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, highlighted by a 19-point, 10-rebound, 5-assist double-double over 49 minutes at Radford. She added 17 points and nine boards vs. Iona while shooting 42.9% from the field and 91.7% at the line for the week.
Zoe Mesuch, Navy, Fr., G, Clintondale, N.Y./Wallkill
Mesuch posted 20 points at Radford and added 10 more vs. Iona while shooting 54.5% from the field and 55.6% from three on the week.
Charlotte Tuhy, American, Fr., F, Madison, N.J./Madison
Tuhy recorded her fifth double-double at Drexel with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while posting a near double-double vs. William & Mary with eight points and 10 rebounds.
