BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh fifth-year forward Maddie Albrecht was named the 2024-25 Patriot League Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, headlining the five-member Academic All-Patriot League Team, as announced by the League office on Monday.
Albrecht, a biology major with a 3.8 cumulative GPA, earned a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team after being selected to the First-Team All-Patriot League and All-Defensive Team when postseason honors were announced. She becomes the sixth Mountain Hawks’ women’s basketball player to receive the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
Joining Albrecht on the Academic All-Patriot League Team are Bucknell sophomore forward Ashley Sofilkanich (Political Science, 3.57 GPA), Holy Cross senior forward Lindsay Berger (Psychology, 3.52 GPA), Lafayette senior guard Abby Antognoli (Economics, 3.95 GPA), and Navy junior guard Maren Louridas (Cyber Operations, 4.0 GPA).
Antognoli has been named to the Academic All-League Team for the third consecutive season, while Albrecht and Louridas earn the honor for the second time in their careers. Sofilkanich and Berger are all first-time selections.
To be eligible for the Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in their sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
The Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year winner for each sport comprises the pool of nominees for the Patriot League Men’s and Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards given out during the summer.
2024-25 Patriot League Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Maddie Albrecht, Lehigh, 5th, F, Billings, Mont./Billings
*Albrecht is a biology major at Lehigh with a 3.80 cumulative GPA.
*The fifth-year earned First-Team All-Patriot League and All-Defensive Team honors after finishing as one of the League’s top scorers (15.8 ppg) and leading Lehigh to a regular-season championship.
*She is a seven-time Dean’s List honoree at Lehigh and was named to the 2023-24 Academic All-Patriot League Team.
*Albrecht finished third in the League in scoring, second in field goal percentage (.532), and third in steals per game (1.8).
2024-25 Academic All-Patriot League Team
Four Academic All-Patriot League selections were also named to one of the three All-Patriot League teams. Albrecht and Sofilkanich earned First-Team honors, Berger was placed on the Second-Team, while Antognoli secured Third-Team recognition.
Sofilkanich was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team after earning Patriot League Player of the Year and a spot on the All-Defensive Team. The sophomore led the League in scoring (19.6 ppg), ranked first in blocks (68), and finished third in rebounding (8.5 rpg).
Berger earned Academic All-Patriot League honors after being named Second-Team All-Patriot League and leading the League in field goal percentage (.543). The forward paced the Crusaders in scoring (12.2 ppg), helping Holy Cross to an 11-7 record in League play.
Antognoli, a three-time All-Patriot League and three-time Academic All-Patriot League selection, led the Leopards in scoring (12.6 ppg) and ranked second in the League in assists (3.9 apg). The senior guard was named to the Third-Team All-Patriot League, finishing 10th in the League in scoring.
Louridas earned Academic All-Patriot League honors after posting a perfect 4.0 GPA as a Cyber Operations major and starting every game for the Mids this season. The junior ranked 10th in the League in rebounding (5.4 rpg) and earned a spot on the 2023-24 Academic All-Patriot League Team.
