Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Semifinal Preview | Weekly Notebook (4.30.25)

Top-seeded Greyhounds host No. 4 Crusaders; No. 2 Black Knights take on rival No. 3 Mids

BALTIMORE – The 2025 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship, presented by Credit Union 1, continues on Thursday, May 1, with two semifinal-round contests at Loyola Maryland’s Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore, Md.
 
The five-time defending Patriot League Champion Greyhounds (12-5, 9-0 PL) begin their title defense against No. 4 Holy Cross (10-7, 5-4 PL) at 3 p.m. on ESPN+. Head coach Jen Adams and Loyola Maryland aim for their ninth League crown in the last 12 seasons. Head coach Amanda Belichick and Holy Cross downed No. 5 Colgate, 19-13, in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinal round for the second straight season.
 
No. 2 Army West Point (13-2, 8-1 PL) will meet rival No. 3 Navy (13-5, 7-2 PL) at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ in the second semifinal matchup of the day. The Black Knights and head coach Michelle Tumolo enter the Patriot League Championship in the midst of an eight-game winning streak while going 8-1 in League play to match the program’s best mark. Head coach Cindy Timchal and the Mids defeated No. 6 Lehigh, 19-2, in the quarterfinals to advance to semifinal round for the fourth straight season.

REGULAR-SEASON MEETING (BOX SCORE) –At Loyola Maryland 20, Holy Cross 10 (April 19)- Georgia Latch recorded 10 points on seven goals and three assists to lead Loyola Maryland to a 20-10 victory over Holy Cross. Latch also contributed eight draw controls. Elisa Faklaris added four goals and two assists. Ella Kittredge led the Crusaders with four goals, while Isabela Miller added two goals and one assist.

REGULAR-SEASON MEETING (BOX SCORE) – At Army West Point 17, Navy 12 (April 12) – The Black Knights scored the game’s first seven goals and never looked back in a 17-12 victory over the Mids. Army’s Allison Reilly finished with eight points on six goals and two assists, and Brigid Duffy added one goal, one assist, four caused turnovers, four ground balls and nine draw controls. Emma Kennedy and Tori DiCarlo posted two goals and two assists apiece.

Holy Cross’ Mackenzie Creagh Breaks Patriot League Championship Single-Game Mark
Holy Cross goalkeeper Mackenzie Creagh made 19 saves in the No. 4 Crusaders’ 19-13 victory over No. 5 Colgate in the quarterfinal round of the 2025 Patriot League Women’s Championship. Creagh’s save total breaks the single-game League championship record, previously held by Lafayette’s Leela Strong, who made 17 stops in the Leopards’ 9-8 overtime win over Colgate in the 2001 semifinal round.

The League is 43-31 in non-League play through the end of the 2025 regular season, fourth among the 15 NCAA DI conferences with a .581 winning percentage.

Three Patriot League Teams Ranked in the KANE Women’s DI Media Poll
Three Patriot League women’s lacrosse teams are ranked in this week’s 2025 KANE Women’s Division I Media Poll, released on April 28. Loyola Maryland slipped one spot to No. 15. Army West Point moved up one spot to No. 18, with Navy remaining at No. 22.

Greyhounds, Mids and Black Knights Ranked in this week’s IWLCA Coaches Poll
Loyola Maryland was No. 15 in this week’s Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Coaches Poll when it was announced on April 28. Navy checked in at No. 19, with Army West Point at No. 25.

Army’s Reilly and Duffy, Loyola’s Latch and Holy Cross’ Miller Rank in NCAA DI in Points Per Game
Army West Point Allison Reilly leads the Patriot League and ranks third in NCAA DI with 6.20 points per game through the regular season, with Loyola Maryland’s Georgia Latch placing second in the League and fourth among NCAA DI leaders with 6.12 points per game. The Black Knights’ Brigid Duffy is third in the League and 11th in the nation with 5.53 points per game, while Holy Cross’ Isabela Miller is 18th with 4.94 points per game as of April 29.
 
Four Among NCAA DI Draw Controls Leaders
Four Patriot League women’s lacrosse student-athletes are among the NCAA DI top 10 in draw controls per game (dcpg), led by Navy’s Alyssa Daley, who ranks third in the nation with 11.67 dcpg. Loyola Maryland’s Chase Boyle is sixth (10.88 dcpg) after breaking the Patriot League single-game record with 22 draw controls in the Greyhounds’ regular-season win against BU on April 12. Holy Cross’ Racheli Levy-Smith is ninth in the nation with 9.82 dcpg, while Colgate’s Lucy Licata is 10th with 9.59 dcpg.
 
Greyhounds Lead NCAA DI in Draw Control Percentage
Loyola Maryland has been dominant in the draw circle this season, posting a .724 draw control percentage that leads NCAA DI. The Greyhounds are one of three Patriot League teams to rank among the nation’s top 10, with Navy placing sixth with a .625 draw control percentage, and Holy Cross ranking 10th (.593).

Patriot League Players Among NCAA DI Active Career Leaders (as of April 9)
*Army West Point’s Brigid Duffy is second on the NCAA DI active career leaders list in points per game (5.08). She is fifth in goals per game (3.51) and 12th in ground balls per game (2.39). Duffy ranks 23rd in assists per game (1.57) and draw controls per game (5.53).
*Loyola Maryland’s Georgia Latch is tied for the NCAA DI lead in points (371) with Boston College’s Emma LoPinto. She is also third in assists (181) and sixth in assists per game (2.21). She is also 13th with 190 goals.
* Holy Cross’ Isabela Miller, Navy’s Ava Yovino and Army West Point’s Allison Reilly rank 14th, 16th and 21st, respectively, on the NCAA DI active assists leaderboard. Miller is averaging 1.94 assists per game, with Reilly (1.86) and Yovino (1.68) close behind.
*Loyola Maryland’s Chase Boyle is third among NCAA DI active leaders with 230 goals and second with 456 draw controls.
*Navy’s Emily Messinese is 35th on the NCAA DI active leaders list with 2.67 goals per game.
*Navy’s Alyssa Daley is second among NCAA DI active leaders with 478 draw controls and fourth with 8.85 draw controls per game.
*Holy Cross’ Racheli Levy-Smith is 16th on the active draw controls per game list with 6.51 per game. Levy-Smith was the 26th Patriot League student-athlete to reach 200 career draw controls. She has 280 through 43 career games.
*Loyola Maryland’s Lauren Spence is seventh among active leaders with an 8.43 goals-against average. Navy’s Felicia Giglio is 18th, allowing 9.42 goals per game.
*Bucknell junior defender Jess Leon is eighth on the NCAA DI active leaders list with 2.25 caused turnovers per game. Teammates Kiera McClanahan is 12th with 1.71, and Kate Hearns is 21st with 1.56 caused turnovers per game.
 
Patriot League Student-Athletes Climbing in League Record Book
*Loyola Maryland’s Georgia Latch is third on the Patriot League career points list with 371, five behind Navy’s Kelly Larkin for second. The two-time Patriot League Attacker of the Year is second in career assists with 181, behind former Greyhound Livy Rosenzweig (230).   
*Loyola Maryland’s Chase Boyle is third among the Patriot League career goals leaders with 230 goals. Boyle was the 12th student-athlete in League history to eclipse 200 goals. She is also the fourth to eclipse 400 draw controls, ranking third in League history with 456 draw controls.
*Navy’s Alyssa Daley is 16 draw controls away from passing former Mids’ star Loren Generi for the Patriot League women’s lacrosse career record (493). She became the fifth League student-athlete to eclipse 400 draw controls and sits at 478 entering Thursday’s semifinal-round game.

Boyle Breaks Patriot League Single-Game Draw Controls Record
Loyola Maryland’s Chase Boyle broke the Patriot League’s single-game record with 22 draw controls in the Greyhounds’ 20-14 victory over Boston University on April 12. Boyle eclipsed former Greyhound Taylor Van Thof’s mark of 21, recorded against Colgate on April 1, 2017. Boyle is seventh in NCAA DI with 10.60 draw controls per game.
 
Loyola Maryland’s Boyle Among 25 Nominees for Tewaaraton Award
Loyola Maryland senior midfielder Chase Boyle was selected among the 25 women's nominees for the Tewaaraton Award when it was announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation. Boyle is among the top 25 for the college lacrosse's national player of the year for the second straight season. The five men's and women's finalists will be announced on May 8 and then honored on May 25 at the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

Six Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Players Named Among Nike Lacrosse Midseason Women’s DI All-Americans
Loyola Maryland midfielder Chase Boyle was selected to the 2025 Nike Lacrosse Midseason Women’s DI All-Americans when it was announced by Inside Lacrosse. The Greyhounds’ attack Georgia Latch and Army West Point midfielder Brigid Duffy claimed spots on the third team. Army West Point attack Allison Reilly, Loyola Maryland’s Lily Osborne and Navy attack Emily Messinese all received honorable mentions.
