Shannehan Named to U.S. U20 World Lacrosse Championship Roster

SPARKS, Md. - Rising sophomore Timothy Shannehan of the Boston University men's lacrosse team has been named to the final 22-player roster that will represent the United States in the 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship. The 20-team event takes place from August 15-24 on Jeju Island, Korea.

Shannehan is one of just four rising sophomores to make the squad and the first Terrier that will compete for Team USA at this prestigious tournament. A native of Fairfield, Connecticut, Shannehan is the reigning Patriot League and ECAC Rookie of the Year and topped Inside Lacrosse's final Freshman Impact Rankings. Shannehan was outstanding in his first season with BU, earning First Team All-Patriot League and Second Team All-New England honors after he led all NCAA rookies with 61 points on 32 goals and 29 assists. He matched Gray and All-American Vince D'Alto the fastest Terriers to reach 50 points, doing so in just 12 games. Shannehan recorded at least two points in 14 of his 16 starts, including a career-high five goals on Feb. 22 against Air Force. He set career bests in assists (5) and points (9) against Bucknell on March 8 and ended the season with seven goals and four assists across final three games.

Team USA will open its schedule on August 16 with a pool play game against Canada and will also have pool play games against Australia and the Haudenosaunee. All four participants from Pool A will automatically advance to the quarterfinal round of the playoffs which begin on August 21. The gold medal game is scheduled for August 24. The United States has won each of the previous nine World Lacrosse men's junior field championships, most recently in 2022.
