HAMILTON, N.Y. – Senior wide receiver Treyvhon Saunders caught 13 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns, but Colgate fell to No. 21/22 Monmouth, 42-39, in their season opener at Andy Kerr Stadium.
*The Raiders jumped out to a 14-0 lead on a four-yard touchdown run from Marco Maldonado and a 13-yard catch by Saunders from quarterback Zach Osborne.
*Osborne completed 11-of-14 passes for 227 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for a team-high 59 yards on 10 carries.
*Saunders caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from Osborne late in the first half to put the Raiders in front 24-7.
*The Hawks outscored the Raiders 35-15 in the second half.
*Colgate’s defense picked off four passes, including two from defensive back Tymir Wynn. Christian Magliacano and Justyn Toler also recorded interceptions for the Raiders.
*Linebacker Trooper Price led the Raiders’ defense with 10 tackles.
