BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Five institutions claimed Patriot League Men’s Soccer weekly honors presented by PenFed Credit Union, when the League office announced its second set of awards on Monday. American, Boston University, Army West Point, Colgate, and Lehigh each received one weekly honor.
American senior midfielder Troy Elgersma collected Patriot League Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors after scoring the game-tying goal to help the Eagles earn a 1-1 draw against No. 1 Vermont.
Boston University sophomore midfielder Pharis Petrica earned Patriot League Men’s Soccer Midfielder of the Week recognition after tallying his first career goal and assist of the season in the Terriers’ 5-1 victory at Charleston.
Army West Point junior defender Kelly Cooper was named Patriot League Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring the Black Knights’ back line in a 0-0 draw with Marist while playing down two men late in the match.
Colgate senior goalkeeper Eric Widrick nabbed Patriot League Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week honors after making eight saves and conceding just one goal in the Raiders’ 2-1 win over Fordham.
Lehigh freshman forward Luciano Larrea earned Patriot League Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week after scoring his first career goal, the 84th-minute game-winner in the Mountain Hawks’ 2-1 win at Rider.
Navy senior forward Andrew Schug, Colgate senior defender Aidan Wright, Lehigh senior midfielder Yusef Gueye, Lehigh senior defender Sam Davis, Colgate senior defender Liam Winograd, Boston University senior goalkeeper Ben Alexander, Bucknell senior goalkeeper Freddie Lapworth, and Colgate first-year forward Cole Ramey all earned honorable mentions.
The Patriot League men’s soccer players of the week are selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

*Petrica tallied both his first assist and first goal of the season in the Terriers’ 5-1 win at Charleston.
*The sophomore set up Lapo Romieri’s header in the 61st minute with a service off a free kick before scoring five minutes later on a low finish from 15 yards out.
*The Terriers scored five goals in a match for the first time since 2008 and handed Charleston its largest home defeat since that same year.
Patriot League Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
Kelly Cooper, Army West Point, Jr., D, Atlanta, Ga./Riverwood Charter School
*Cooper anchored the Black Knights’ defense in a 0-0 draw with Marist, as Army played down two men for the final 12 minutes.
*The junior logged all 90 minutes and has played all 270 minutes for the Black Knights this season.
Patriot League Men’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week
Eric Widrick, Colgate, Sr., GK, Arlington, Mass./Arlington
*Widrick made eight saves while conceding just one goal in Colgate’s 2-1 win over Fordham.
*The senior helped the Raiders preserve the result despite playing a man down for more than 50 minutes.
*Widrick has allowed just one goal through three matches this season.
