SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior quarterback Jake Stearney and junior wide receiver Reed Swanson connected on a pair of third-quarter touchdowns, but Colgate fell to FBS rival Syracuse, 66-24, at the JMA Wireless Dome on Friday night.
*Stearney completed 14-of-20 passes for 148 yards and two touchdowns after entering the game in the second half. Swanson recorded career-highs of seven catches and 110 yards for his two scores, the second two-touchdown game of his career.
*Senior wide receiver Treyvhon Saunders posted his third straight game with double-digit receptions and more than 100 receiving yards, finishing with 11 catches for 105 yards. He leads the FCS in both categories entering the week’s games.
*Raiders’ sophomore running back Cole Fulton rushed for a career-high 72 yards, including a 44-yard touchdown run, on seven carries. He also caught two passes for 11 yards.  
*Fifth-year linebacker Eli Hamilton led the Raiders’ defense with a game-high 12 tackles, including 11 solo stops.
*In the first quarter, Colgate sophomore safety Kenny Langston recovered an Orange fumble at the Syracuse 42-yard line to help set up a 39-yard field goal from junior placekicker Luke Vogeler to make the score 7-3.
*The Orange scored 31 unanswered points to end the first half, taking a 38-3 lead into the break.
*Stearney capped an 11-play, 90-yard drive with a 12-yard touchdown pass to Swanson, bringing the score to 45-10 with 4:36 remaining in the third quarter.
*Junior defensive back Taytum Johnson made his first collegiate interception on the ensuing drive to give the ball back to Stearney and the Raiders’ offense.
*Stearney connected with Swanson in the end zone again, this time for a 23-yard touchdown pass, making the score 45-17 with time expiring in the third frame.
*After an early fourth-quarter Orange touchdown, Fulton found running room and took off for a 44-yard touchdown, bringing the score to 52-24 with 9:27 remaining in the game.
*Syracuse scored the final two touchdowns to drop the Raiders to 0-3 ahead of their League home opener against Fordham next week.
