Patriot League Football Players of the Week presented by Credit Union 1 Announced (9.22.25)

Lafayette’s Edwards, Holy Cross’ Santee and Williams and Lehigh’s Garrido earn weekly honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lafayette senior running back Kente Edwards helped the Leopards improve to 3-1 and was recognized for the third time this season when Patriot League football weekly awards, presented by Credit Union 1, were announced on Monday. Holy Cross received two honors, and Lehigh secured one.  
 
The Leopards’ Edwards claimed his third straight Patriot League Football Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 150 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries in a 38-14 win over defending Ivy League champion Columbia. Edwards has scored three or more touchdowns in each of the last three weeks.  
 
Holy Cross junior linebacker Cam Santee was selected Patriot League Football Defensive Player of the Week.  He posted a career-high 13 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble in a loss vs. Yale. Freshman running back Joseph Williams collected rookie of the week honors after 82 total yards, including a 64-yard reception that set up a Crusaders’ field goal.
 
Lehigh senior placekicker Nick Garrido received the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week. He scored a career-high 11 points, connecting on field goals from 24 and 23 yards, and hitting all five of his PAT attempts.
 
Bucknell fifth-year quarterback Ralph Rucker IV, and senior punter/kicker Matt Schearer, Colgate senior wide receiver Treyvhon Saunders, and junior defensive lineman Brock Winsett, Lafayette sophomore safety Kevin Dodard, Lehigh sophomore running back Jaden Green, and fifth-year defensive lineman Dillon Sheehan and Richmond senior quarterback Kyle Wickersham received honorable mentions for their performances last week.
 
The Patriot League football players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s football athletics communications contacts, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

Patriot League Football Credit Union 1 Offensive Player of the Week
Kente Edwards, Lafayette, Jr., RB, Annandale, N.J./North Hunterdon
*Edwards rushed for 150 yards and three touchdowns and 25 carries in Lafayette’s 38-14 victory over defending Ivy League champion Columbia on Friday.
*It was Edwards’ third straight game with more than 100 rushing yards and three or more touchdowns. He leads the FCS in rushing touchdowns (10).
 
Patriot League Football Credit Union 1 Defensive Player of the Week
Cam Santee, Holy Cross, Jr., LB, Avon, Ohio/Avon
*Santee recorded a career-high 13 tackles, including five solo stops, 2.5 tackles for loss (TFL) of 13 yards and 1.5 sacks in the Crusaders’ loss vs. Yale.
*The junior linebacker forced a fumble and helped Holy Cross hold the Bulldogs to one touchdown in the first half.
 
Patriot League Football Credit Union 1 Special Teams Player of the Week
Nick Garrido, Lehigh, Sr., K, Easton, Pa./Notre Dame
Garrido scored a career-high 11 points, connecting on field goals of 24 and 23 yards and hitting all five extra-point attempts in a 41-24 win over Bucknell.
*His second field goal made it a three-possession game with 1:42 remaining in the fourth quarter.
 
Patriot League Football Credit Union 1 Rookie of the Week
Joseph Williams, Holy Cross, Fr., RB, Clarksburg, Md./Good Counsel
*Williams had a 64-yard reception to help set up a field goal for the Crusaders and led Holy Cross in receiving yards.
*He also rushed five times for 18 yards and had five kickoff returns for 83 yards.
 
Honorable Mentions
Ralph Rucker IV, Bucknell, 5th, QB, Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy
*Rucker IV completed 23-of-34 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns to become Bucknell’s career passing leader (6,421) in a loss vs. No. 10 Lehigh. He also rushed for 35 yards and a score.  
 
Matt Schearer, Bucknell, Sr., K/P, Canonsburg, Pa./Central Catholic
*Schearer averaged 46.8 yards per punt on six attempts with a long of 52 yards and two punts inside the 20-yard line in a loss against the No. 10 Lehigh in their League opener. He connected on a 29-yard field goal and went 3-for-3 on PAT attempts.
 
Treyvhon Saunders, Colgate, Sr., WR, Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Hartley
*Saunders finished with nine receptions for 136 yards and a 36-yard touchdown catch in the Raiders’ 44-21 victory over Fordham. Saunders became Colgate’s career leader in receptions, moving to seventh in League history with 223.   
 
Brock Winsett, Colgate, Jr., DL, Allen, Texas/Allen
*Winsett registered two second-half sacks for a loss of 15 yards in Colgate’s 44-21 win over Fordham. Both of his sacks came on third downs, helping the Raiders to hold the Rams scoreless in the second half.  
 
Kevin Dodard, Lafayette, So., FS, Fort Worth, Texas/All Saints Episcopal
*Dodard recorded six tackles and his first career interception to lead Lafayette to a 38-14 win over reigning Ivy League champion Columbia. His third-quarter interception led to a Leopards score to help put the game away.
 
Jaden Green, Lehigh, So., RB, San Francisco, Calif./Junipero Serra
*Green rushed for two touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass to help the Mountain Hawks improve to 2-0 in League play with a 44-21 victory at Bucknell. The sophomore running back rushed for 127 yards on 16 carries, including a 12-yard touchdown in the first quarter and a 23-yard score in the third quarter. His six-yard touchdown reception helped Lehigh outscore the Bison, 21-0, in the third frame.
 
Dillon Sheehan, Lehigh, 5th, DL, Randolph, N.J./Randolph
*Sheehan posted three tackles, a career-high 2.5 sacks and a quarterback hurry while helping Lehigh hold Bucknell to 80 rushing yards in a 41-24 victory. The fifth-year defensive lineman was part of a Mountain Hawks’ defense that finished with six sacks and nine TFLs.
 
Kyle Wickersham, Richmond, Sr., QB, Metairie, La./Archbishop Rummel
*Wickersham completed 10-of-13 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns, including a 67-yard strike. He also rushed for 44 yards and another score in the Spiders’ 38-14 win over VMI.
