BETHLEHEM, Pa. – American collected three of the five Patriot League women’s soccer weekly awards presented by PenFed Credit Union, when the League office announced the honors on Monday. Bucknell and Navy each received one weekly honor.
American graduate student forward Jennifer McGuire collected Patriot League Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after assisting on both goals in the Eagles’ win over Army West Point.
Eagles’ senior Phoebe Merrigan was named Patriot League Women’s Soccer Midfielder of the Week after scoring the game-tying goal and assisting on the 90th-minute game-winner.
American junior Bella Vozar received Patriot League Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors after scoring the game-winning goal in the 90th minute against the Black Knights.
Bucknell sophomore Reese Dolan recorded her first career shutout with six saves in the Bison’s 2-0 win at Lehigh to earn Patriot League Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week.
Navy freshman defender Helen Bonner totaled three points with a goal and an assist in the Mids’ 3-1 win over Boston University to claim Patriot League Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week.
Honorable mentions went to American sophomore goalkeeper Addison Roemer, Bucknell sophomore forward Katie Connell and freshman forward Gaby Parker, Holy Cross senior midfielder Olivia Perez, Loyola Maryland graduate student defender Riley Kennel and Navy freshman midfielder Jessia Black, senior forward Marlee Heaven and sophomore goalkeeper Natasha Stramrood.
The Patriot League women’s soccer players of the week are selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
