Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Players of the Week Announced (9.30.25)

Bond, Murakami and Sorensen collect weekly awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point, Holy Cross and Lehigh each received one Patriot League women’s volleyball weekly award, presented by Credit Union One, when the League office announced the honors on Tuesday.

Army West Point senior outside hitter Chloe Murakami was named Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week after totaling 30 kills (4.29 per set) and 12 digs in a 2-0 weekend for the Black Knights.

For the second time this season, Lehigh sophomore defensive specialist Sophia Bond earned Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after totaling 44 digs (4.89 per set), 11 assists and three aces.

Holy Cross freshman outside hitter Emma Sorensen collected Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week after recording a pair of double-doubles in League matches. She became the first Crusader to receive Rookie of the Week honors since Clare Honan on Sept. 25, 2017.

Honorable mentions went to American sophomore setter Deniz Dakak, Colgate first-year right-side hitter Jordyn Moore, sophomore right-side hitter Tiana Owens and first-year setter Julia Oster, Loyola Maryland freshman libero Addie Huber and freshman outside hitter Addie Lowe.

The Patriot League women’s volleyball players of the week are selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their own student-athletes.

Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week
Chloe Murakami, Army West Point, Sr., Outside Hitter, Chandler, Ariz./Basha

*Murakami led Army West Point to a 2-0 weekend as she totaled 30 kills (4.29 per set) on a .243 hitting percentage, 12 digs, three blocks and a .931 reception percentage.
*The senior logged her first double-double of the season with 34 assists and 11 digs against Navy on Friday, before adding 39 assists, seven digs, four kills and one block at Loyola Maryland on Saturday.
*The Chandler, Ariz. native ranks fifth in the Patriot League in kills per set (3.36) and points per set (3.71).

Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Sophia Bond, Lehigh, So., Defensive Specialist, Olathe, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas

*Bond collected her second Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honors after totaling 44 digs (4.89 per set), 11 assists and three service aces in a 1-1 weekend for Lehigh.
*The sophomore posted 24 digs and six assists at Army West Point on Friday before recording 20 digs, five assists and two aces in a five-set win over Holy Cross.
*The Olathe, Kan. native ranks third in the Patriot League in digs per set (4.50) and is tied for eighth in aces per set (0.33).

Patriot League Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Emma Sorensen, Holy Cross, Fr., Outside Hitter, Dallas, Texas/Ursuline Academy of Dallas

*In Holy Cross’ three matches last week, Sorensen totaled 41 kills, 24 digs, three aces, two blocks and a pair of double-doubles.
*The freshman posted 17 kills and 12 digs against Bucknell before notching a career-best 20 kills on a .333 hitting percentage, along with 11 digs and two aces, in a five-set loss to Lehigh.
*The Dallas, Texas native ranks third in the Patriot League in kills (182) and points (202.5) and seventh in kills per set (3.14) and points per set (3.49).

Deniz Dakak, American, So., Setter, Istanbul, Turkey/Irmak
*Dakak dished out 73 assists, 18 digs, four kills, three aces and two blocks in a 2-0 weekend for American.
*The sophomore logged her first double-double of the season in a sweep of Navy on Friday with 34 assists and 11 digs. She followed with 39 assists, seven digs, four kills, two aces and a block in a 3-0 win at Loyola Maryland on Saturday.
*The Istanbul, Turkey native leads the Patriot League in assists (511) and assists per set (10.22).

Jordyn Moore, Colgate, Fy., Right-Side, Argyle, Texas/Argyle
*In a 2-0 weekend for Colgate, Moore logged 21 kills on a .666 hitting percentage, four digs and two blocks. The first-year recorded 11 kills on a .786 hitting percentage in the Raiders’ sweep of Bucknell.

Tiana Owens, Colgate, So., Right-Side, San Diego, Calif./Cathedral Catholic
*Owens helped the Raiders to a 2-0 weekend with a pair of sweeps, totaling 30 kills, 15 digs and six service aces. The sophomore recorded 17 kills and a career-best four aces against Lafayette, before adding 13 kills against Bucknell on Saturday.
*The San Diego, Calif. native ranks eighth in the Patriot League in kills (144).

Julia Oster, Colgate, Fy., Setter, Concord Township, Ohio/Lake Catholic
*Oster recorded 33 digs, 11 assists and four service aces in a 2-0 weekend for Colgate. The first-year setter posted a double-double with 12 digs and 11 assists in a sweep of Bucknell.

Addie Huber, Loyola Maryland, Fr., Libero, Hershey, Pa./Middletown Area
*Huber totaled 37 digs (4.63 per set), 11 assists and three service aces in a 1-1 weekend for Loyola Maryland. The freshman posted 27 digs, nine assists and two aces in a five-set win over Navy, before adding 10 digs against American.

*Lowe had a career-high 17 kills to go with seven digs and two blocks in Loyola Maryland’s five-set win over Navy on Saturday.
