Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Players of the Week Announced (1.26.26)

Lehigh’s Whitlock, Bucknell’s Dörries garner weekly accolades

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh junior guard Nasir Whitlock captured Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Player of the Week honors when the League office announced weekly honors on Monday. Bucknell freshman center Amon Dörries earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week.  
 
Whitlock earned Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week and third time this season after averaging 24.0 points on 60.9% shooting in Lehigh’s wins against Loyola Maryland and Lafayette.  
 
Dörries picked up his second Patriot League Men’s Basketball PenFed Credit Union Rookie of the Week award after averaging 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in losses against Army West Point and Loyola Maryland.  
 
American junior guard Greg Jones, Colgate junior guard Jalen Cox, Lafayette sophomore guard Caleb Williams, Loyola Maryland sophomore guard Braeden Speed and Navy senior center Aidan Kehoe were recognized as honorable mentions for their performances last week.
 
The Patriot League men’s basketball players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s men’s basketball athletics communications contacts, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

PATRIOT LEAGUE PENFED CREDIT UNION MEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nasir Whitlock, Lehigh, Jr., G, Brooklyn Park, Minn./DeLaSalle
*Whitlock led Lehigh with 24.0 points per game on 60.9% (14-of-23) shooting from the field, connecting on 62.5% (5-of-8) from 3-point range, while adding 5.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals during the Mountain Hawks’ 2-0 week.
*He posted 28 points on 8-of-11 shooting to go along with seven assists, three rebounds and two steals in an 88-81 victory over Loyola Maryland on Monday.
*On Saturday, Whitlock scored a game-high 20 points and added three rebounds and three assists in a 64-59 win over rival Lafayette.   
 
PATRIOT LEAGUE PENFED CREDIT UNION MEN’S BASKETBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Amon Dörries, Bucknell, Fr., C, Potsdam, Germany/Schul- und Leistungssportzentrum
*Dörries averaged 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in Bucknell’s losses against Army West Point and Loyola Maryland last week, shooting 62% (16-of-26) from the field.
*He scored a career-high 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds against the Greyhounds. It was the highest-scoring game by a Bison freshman since Gordon Mboya posted 27 points against Harvard on Dec. 29, 1993.
*The freshman center scored 13 points, connecting on 5-of-7 from the floor, to go along with four rebounds, two assists and two steals against the Black Knights.  
 
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Greg Jones, American, Jr., G, Alexandria, Va./Hayfield School
*Jones posted his second career double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in the Eagles’ 70-66 win over Colgate on Wednesday. The junior guard scored 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the floor in a 76-67 win at Holy Cross on Saturday.
 
Jalen Cox, Colgate, Jr., G, Los Angeles, Calif./Loyola
*Cox averaged 22.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds to help the Raiders go 1-1 last week. The junior guard scored 23 points, including the game-winning shot in an 80-79 overtime victory over Boston University. Cox scored to send the game to overtime, then tallied nine points in the extra session. He finished with 21 points in a loss at American on Wednesday.
 
Caleb Williams, Lafayette, So., G, Jacksonville, Fla./Jean Ribault
*Williams averaged 21.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in Lafayette’s losses at Boston University and Lehigh. He finished with 24 points, five rebounds and two steals against the Terriers on Wednesday. He led the Leopards with 18 points and grabbed five boards against the Mountain Hawks.  
 
Braeden Speed, Loyola Maryland, So., G, Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy Prep
*Speed led the Greyhounds during a 1-1 week, averaging 22.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists, while shooting 48% (13-of-27) from the field and 46% (6-of-13) from 3-point range. The sophomore guard scored eight of his 24 points in the final three minutes of play in a 67-62 win over Bucknell on Saturday. He posted 20 points and four assists in a loss at Lehigh on Wednesday.
 
Aidan Kehoe, Navy, Sr., C, Montvale, N.J./Pascack Hills
*Kehoe posted 21.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game in the Midshipmen’s decisive wins over Holy Cross (85-68) and rival Army West Point (84-56). He shot 83% (15-of-18) from the field in the two wins. The senior center finished with a career-high 29 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a win over the Crusaders on Wednesday. He posted his 10th double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 boards against the Black Knights.
