Patriot League Field Hockey Players of the Week Announced (10.5.26)

Boston University’s O’Brien and Lauro, Holy Cross’ Maclean and Egan and Lafayette’s Kahn earn weekly honors. 

BETHLEHEM, Pa. –  Boston University and Holy Cross each claimed two of the five Patriot League field hockey weekly awards when the League office announced honors on Monday. Lafayette received one weekly accolade.
 
The Patriot League field hockey players of the week are selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their own student-athletes.
 
Patriot League Field Hockey Forward of the Week
Caroline O’Brien, Boston University, Gr., Forward, Devon, Pa./Villa Maria Academy
*O’Brien scored the first goal of the game in Boston University’s 7-1 win over Lehigh to help the Terriers remain undefeated in League play.
*She took a game-high seven shots against the Mountain Hawks, including three on goal.
 
Patriot League Field Hockey Midfielder of the Week
Nicole Lauro, Boston University, Sr., Midfielder, Buenos Aires, Argentina/Escuela Normal Superior en Lenguas Vivas
*Lauro scored two goals in Boston University’s 7-1 win over Lehigh to help the Terriers remain undefeated in League play.
*She scored goals in the 22nd and 33rd minutes and helped the Terriers control possession throughout the match.
 
Patriot League Field Hockey Defender of the Week
Rachel Egan, Holy Cross, So., Back, Watertown, Mass./Watertown
*Egan scored the game-winning goal with 10 seconds left in regulation in Holy Cross’ 2-1 win over Bucknell.
*She made a defensive save in the second quarter to help the Crusaders maintain a one-goal lead.
 
Patriot League Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week
Addison Kahn, Lafayette, Jr., Goalkeeper, Fredericksburg, Va./Stafford
*Kahn posted four saves to earn a shutout in Lafayette’s 1-0 shootout win over American on Friday. She helped the Leopards finish 3-1 in the shootout with the Eagles.
*The junior goalkeeper leads the Patriot League in goals-against average (GAA) at 0.89 and is second in save percentage (.773).
 
Patriot League Field Hockey Rookie of the Week
Marianna Maclean, Holy Cross, Fr., Midfielder, Edinburgh, Scotland/Fettes College
*Maclean scored the Crusaders’ first goal and assisted the game winner in a 2-1 victory over Bucknell to help Holy Cross improve to 2-1 in League play.
*The four-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week took a game-high five shots, including four shots on goal, against the Bison.
 
Honorable Mentions
Jordan Reicher, American, Sr., Striker, Redwood City, Calif./Saint Francis
*Reicher scored one goal on three shots in a 4-2 loss to Rutgers on Sunday. She was one of three Eagles to record a shot on goal in a 1-0 shootout loss to No. 19 Lafayette.
 
Shea Freda, Boston University, Jr., Defender, Lexington, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover
*Freda scored her first collegiate goal in BU’s 7-1 win over Lehigh on Saturday. She played all 60 minutes to lead a defense that allowed just one shot and one corner.
 
Morgan Willis, Colgate, Sr., Forward, Madison, N.J./Oak Knoll School
*Willis scored one goal on two shots in Colgate’s 3-2 loss to Cornell on Sunday.
 
Mia McCloskey, Holy Cross, Jr., Goalkeeper, Villanova, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame de Namur
*McCloskey made four saves and allowed one goal in the Crusaders’ 2-1 win over Bucknell on Saturday.
 
Lena Thedrian, Lafayette, Sr., Defender, Hamburg, Germany/Rudolf Steiner Schule Hamburg-Wandsbek
*Thedrian led a Leopards’ defense that held American scoreless before a successful shootout attempt in the Leopards’ 1-0 win over American on Friday. The Leopards’ defense has not allowed a goal against a Patriot League opponent this season. She also scored a goal in Lafayette’s 3-2 overtime loss to Penn State on Sunday.
