2025-26 PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Basketball Quarterfinal Round Recap (3.9.26)

No. 1 Navy, No. 2 Holy Cross, No. 3 Army West Point, No. 4 Lehigh advance to the semifinal round with wins on Monday night

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The top-four seeds advanced to the PenFed Credit Union Patriot League Women’s Basketball Championship semifinals with wins on Monday night.

No. 1 Navy outlasted No. 8 Boston University, 76-66, behind a 31-point performance from 2025-26 Patriot League Rookie of the Year Zoe Mesuch, who set a Patriot League single-game record with eight three-point field goals.

No. 4 Lehigh defeated No. 5 Loyola Maryland, 68-54, using balanced scoring and strong defense to beat the Greyhounds for the third time this season.

No. 3 Army West Point downed No. 6 Lafayette, 65-57, as junior forward Kya Smith posted her second 20-point, 20-rebound performance of the season and the Black Knights pulled away late in the fourth quarter.

No. 2 Holy Cross dominated No. 10 Colgate, 72-36, as senior forward Meg Cahalan led the Crusader offense with 21 points, including 10 points in the first quarter.

No. 2 Holy Cross will host No. 3 Army West Point in Worcester, Mass., with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m., while No. 4 Lehigh travels to Annapolis, Md., to face top-seeded Navy at 7 p.m. in Thursday’s semifinal round. Both games will stream live on ESPN+.

– Holy Cross delivered a dominant wire-to-wire performance to defeat Colgate, 72-36, in the Patriot League Women’s Basketball Championship quarterfinal round at Hart Center Arena.
*Holy Cross jumped out to an early 19-6 lead as senior forward Meg Cahalan scored 10 of the Crusaders’ 19 first-quarter points while the defense held Colgate to 4-of-16 in the period.
*The Crusaders extended their lead to 36-18 at halftime, outscoring the Raiders 17-10 in the second quarter while shooting 50 percent (6-of-12) from the field and forcing nine first-half turnovers.
*Holy Cross continued to control the game in the third quarter, scoring 24 points and shooting 10-of-20 (50 percent) from the field to stretch the margin to 60-31 entering the fourth quarter.
*The Crusaders’ defense remained dominant throughout, limiting Colgate to 23.7 percent (14-of-59) shooting from the field and just 1-of-14 (7.1 percent) from 3-point range.
*Cahalan led all scorers with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting, while senior guard Mary-Elizabeth Donnelly added 11 points and senior forward Simone Foreman recorded 10 points and 13 rebounds.
*Junior guard Ella Meabon paced Colgate with 10 points, while senior guard Madison Schiller added nine points and six rebounds.

Army West Point used a strong second half behind a dominant performance from junior forward Kya Smith to defeat Lafayette, 65-57, to advance to the semifinal round.
*The teams traded baskets in the opening frame as neither team led by more than four points as Army West Point was able to take a 19-16 lead after the first quarter.
*Lafayette and Army West Point continued to battle, but a late layup from sophomore forward Tasha Chudy gave the Leopards a 33-32 advantage heading into halftime.
*Army West Point seized momentum in the third quarter, holding Lafayette to 1-of-9 (11.1 percent) shooting while outscoring the Leopards 14-6 to take a 46-39 lead into the fourth.
*The Black Knights pulled away late in the fourth quarter with a 14-5 run over the final four minutes, turning a one-point deficit into a multi-possession lead.
*Smith led all scorers with 21 points and grabbed a game-high 21 rebounds, including eight offensive boards, to power Army West Point on both ends.
*Junior guard Teresa Kiewiet paced Lafayette with 18 points and eight rebounds, while sophomore guard Talia Zurinskas added 13 points.

– Lehigh used a fast start and strong guard play to defeat Loyola Maryland, 68-54, in the Patriot League Women’s Basketball Championship quarterfinal round at Stabler Arena.
*Lehigh jumped out early, building a 22-13 lead after making nine field goals on eight assists in the first quarter, as junior guard Gracyn Lovette connected on a pair of three-pointers.
*Loyola Maryland cut into the Lehigh lead with an early second-quarter 6-0 run and closed the gap to 34-28 at halftime after senior guard Amandine Amorich connected on a three-pointer at the buzzer.
*The Mountain Hawks maintained control in the third quarter, matching Loyola Maryland with 15 points while keeping a 49-43 advantage entering the fourth.
*Lehigh pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Greyhounds 19-11 and holding them to 3-of-11 (27.3 percent) shooting in the period.
*Lovette led all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, while sophomore forward Belle Bramer added 16 points and first-year guard Alana Reddy chipped in nine points.
*Graduate forward Lex Therien paced Loyola Maryland with 20 points and nine rebounds, ending her career as the League’s career rebound leader with 1,250 rebounds. Amorich added seven points and six assists.

*The teams traded momentum early, with Boston University taking a 16-15 lead after the first quarter before Navy carried a 32-30 advantage into halftime.
*Navy seized control in the third quarter, outscoring the Terriers 24-17 while shooting 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from the field in the period.
*The Mids maintained separation in the fourth quarter, scoring 20 points and converting key baskets down the stretch to secure the 10-point victory.
*Mesuch led all scorers with 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting, including a Patriot League single-game record eight three-pointers (8-of-12).
*Junior guard Zanai Barnett-Gay added 16 points and 14 rebounds for Navy, while sophomore guard Julianna Almeida chipped in 13 points in the win.
*Senior forward Anete Adler paced Boston University with 33 points, on 15-of-25 shooting from the floor, tying the Patriot League Tournament record for field goals made in a game.
