Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Semifinal Preview | Weekly Notebook (4.29.26)

Top-seeded Navy hosts No. 4 Bucknell, No. 2 Army West Point faces No. 3 Loyola Maryland

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The 2026 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship continues on Thursday, April 30, with two semifinal-round matchups at The United States Naval Academy’s Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
 
The first semifinal contest features top-seeded Navy (16-1, 8-1 PL) hosting No. 4 Bucknell (10-6, 5-4 PL), with the opening draw scheduled for 3 p.m. No. 2 Army West Point (13-3, 8-1 PL) takes on No. 3 Loyola Maryland (12-6, 7-2 PL) at 7 p.m. Both games will be available on ESPN+, with Jason Knapp and Taylor Cummings on the call.
 
The defending champion Mids host the semifinal round in Annapolis for the first time since 2013 and take on the fourth-seeded Bison, coming off a 14-13 win over No. 5 Holy Cross in the first round. The victory was Bucknell’s first in the Patriot League Championship since 2003. The Patriot League regular-season co-champion Black Knights will face the third-seeded Greyhounds in the postseason for the second time. Loyola Maryland downed Army West Point, 13-8, in the 2023 Patriot League Championship Game.
 
The winners of Thursday’s semifinal-round contests will meet in the 2026 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship Game, scheduled for Saturday, May 2, with live coverage on CBS Sports Network beginning at 3:30 p.m. Jason Knapp and Rachael DeCecco will be on the call for the nationally televised championship game. Paige Messier will report from the sideline.

REGULAR-SEASON MEETING (March 14, 2026) – At Navy 17, Bucknell 6 (Box Score) – Alyssa Chung led the Mids with six points on four goals and two assists, and Emma Kennedy and Mikayla Williams both posted hat tricks in Navy’s 17-6 win over Bucknell. Felicia Giglio made seven saves and allowed five goals in 49:25. Kate Powers led the Bison with two goals.

Army West Point’s lone victory came during its regular-season game on March 14 this season. Loyola Maryland defeated Army West Point, 13-8, in the 2023 Patriot League Championship in the programs’ only postseason meeting.
REGULAR-SEASON MEETING (March 14, 2026) -  At Army West Point 18, Loyola Maryland 10 (Box Score) – Allison Reilly posted eight points on three goals and five assists, and Brigid Duffy totaled six goals, one assist, four ground balls and three caused turnovers to lead Army West Point to an 18-10 victory, ending Loyola Maryland’s 94-game regular-season League winning streak. The Greyhounds’ Lauren Perfetto scored a team-high three goals.

Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship Records
*Holy Cross’ Racheli Levy-Smith broke the Patriot League Championship single-game draw control record, finishing with 21 against No. 4 Bucknell. Levy-Smith passed Navy’s Reagan Roelofs, who posted 19 draw controls in the semifinal round against Army West Point in 2019.
 
Three Patriot League Teams Among the NCAA RPI Top 20
Navy is No. 8 in the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse RPI through games on April 28, with Army West Point checking in at No. 13. Loyola Maryland is No. 22 in the most recent RPI rankings. Bucknell is ranked No. 52 and Holy Cross is No. 56 in the RPI, giving the League five in the top 60.

Inside Lacrosse KANE Women’s DI Media Poll
Reigning Patriot League Champion Navy remains No. 6 in this week’s Inside Lacrosse KANE Women’s DI Media Poll after concluding the regular season with an 18-5 win over American. The Black Knights remained No. 13 in the poll, while the Greyhounds are 22nd after their 13-7 win over Boston University in the first round of the Patriot League Championship.  
 
Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Coaches Poll
The Mids are No. 8 in this week’s IWLCA Top 25 Coaches Poll. Army West Point climbed to No. 13 while Loyola Maryland remained No. 23.

Navy moved up one spot to No. 5 in the USA Lacrosse DI Women’s Top 20. Army West Point is No. 13. Loyola Maryland is listed as also considered.
 
Five Patriot League Student-Athletes Make Tewaaraton Top 25 Finalist List
Five Patriot League women’s lacrosse student-athletes who will be featured during the League’s championship weekend were named among the Tewaaraton Award Top 25 Finalist List when it was announced. Army West Point’s Brigid Duffy and Allison Reilly, Loyola Maryland’s Mae Murphy and Navy’s Alyssa Chung and Ava Yovino were on the list for college lacrosse’s most prestigious honor. The list will be narrowed down to five finalists on May 7.

Patriot League Victories vs. Ranked Non-League Opponents
Army West Point’s victory over No. 5 Yale on March 31 was the sixth win by a Patriot League women’s lacrosse program over a ranked non-League opponent this season. Loyola has recorded three wins over ranked non-League opponents. Navy is 2-0 against ranked non-League teams, while Army is 1-2.

Several active Patriot League women’s lacrosse student-athletes rank among the Patriot League’s career leaders entering the 2026 season.
300 POINTS CLUB
Army’s Duffy and Reilly are tied for fourth in Patriot League women’s lacrosse history with 349 career points, ranking second among all active NCAA Division I players. Duffy and Reilly became the 11th and 12th student-athletes in League history to surpass 300 points, respectively.

Army’s Duffy Climbing Patriot League Career Goals List
Duffy climbed into second place in Patriot League history with 244 goals. She is second among active NCAA DI leaders. Her teammate Allison Reilly’s 183 career goals are 19th in League history and eighth among active goal scorers. American’s Reagan Murdoch reached 100 career goals with a six-goal performance in a loss to George Mason on Feb. 27 and ranks 55th in League history and 38th among active scorers with 125 goals. Alyssa Chung surpassed 100 career goals in the Mids’ victory over Lehigh on March 25. Her 119 career goals are 66th in League history and 46th among active leaders. Colgate’s Caroline Panzirer eclipsed 100 career goals with a four-goal performance in the Raiders’ 16-10 win over Niagara on Feb. 14. She is 92nd in League history. Bucknell’s Megan Krestinski, Navy’s Emma Kennedy and Loyola Maryland’s Elisa Faklaris all surpassed the 100-goal milestone this season.

Holy Cross’ Levy-Smith Tops Patriot League Active Draw Controls Leaders
Holy Cross’ Racheli Levy-Smith became the sixth player in Patriot League history to reach 400 draw controls earlier this season, finishing her career with a Patriot League Championship-record 21 draw controls against Bucknell. She became the 10th player to surpass 300 earlier this season. The Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year is fourth in League history and fourth among NCAA DI active leaders with 475. Army’s Duffy ranks 11th in League history with 347 draw controls. Lafayette’s Katie Marrs eclipsed 200 career draw controls to become the third active Patriot League player to reach the milestone. Marrs is tied for 17th in Patriot League history and 34th among NCAA DI active leaders.

Loyola Maryland and Rookie Mae Murphy Among the Nation’s Draw Control Leaders
Loyola Maryland leads NCAA DI in draw control percentage (.683) and draw controls per game (17.50), in front of eighth-ranked Army West Point (15.75) through games on April 28. The Greyhounds are led by Patriot League Rookie of the Year Mae Murphy, who has made an immediate impact during her first collegiate campaign. In 18 games, she is second in NCAA DI with 12.50 draw controls per game. Her 225 draws are the highest single-season total by a Patriot League rookie, and second-highest single-season total in League history. Murphy is 12 draw controls shy of breaking the League’s single-season record of 236, set last season by Navy’s Alyssa Daley.
 
Navy’s Giglio Placing Among NCAA DI Goalkeeper Leaders
Navy junior goalkeeper Felicia Giglio, the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, is fifth in NCAA DI with a 7.68 goals-against average (GAA), helping the Mids rank eighth in the nation in scoring defense (7.65) and third in scoring margin (8.29). Her .483 save percentage ranks 16th in NCAA DI. The third-year starter is 18th among NCAA active leaders with a 8.95 career GAA.
