Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship Game Preview: No. 1 Navy Meets No. 2 Army West Point (5.1.26)

Top-seeded Mids meet No. 2 Black Knights the Patriot League title game for the first time

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – No. 1 Navy (17-1, 8-1 PL) meets archrival No. 2 Army West Point (14-3, 8-1 PL) in the 2026 Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship Game at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday. The Mids and Black Knights play for the League title for the first time.
 
Live coverage of Saturday’s Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Championship Game on CBS Sports Network begins at 3:30 p.m. Jason Knapp and Rachael DeCecco will be on the call for the nationally televised game, with Paige Messier reporting from the sideline.
 
The top-seeded Mids and head coach Cindy Timchal advanced to the Patriot League Championship Game for the third straight season and the 14th time in program history after an 18-8 win over No. 4 Bucknell on Thursday. Sophomore attack Alyssa Chung posted seven points with five goals and two assists to lead the defending champion Mids back to the title game.
 
The second-seeded Black Knights and head coach Michelle Tumolo make the championship game for the second time in program history after holding off No. 3 Loyola Maryland, 13-11, behind six goals and one assist from Patriot League Attacker of the Year Allison Reilly.
 
Navy and Army West Point meet in the Patriot League Championship Game for the first time, but Saturday’s game marks the fifth time they’ve met during the postseason. The Mids are 3-1 in those contests, all in the semifinals, including an 18-9 victory last season. Navy won the regular-season meeting, downing Army West Point, 14-8, in Annapolis.

Series History: Army West Point and Navy meet for the 15th time in series history, with the Mids holding a 10-4 advantage. Navy is also 3-1 in games in the Patriot League Championship, all in the semifinals. The Black Knights’ lone tournament win against the Mids was a 12-11 double-overtime thriller in 2023.
Regular-Season Meeting (April 11, 2026)At Navy 14, Army West Point 8 (BOX SCORE) – Navy’s Alyssa Chung posted eight points on five goals and three assists and Mikayla Williams added three goals and three assists to defeat Army West Point, 14-8 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Mids outscored the Black Knights 7-0 in the second quarter to put the game out of reach early. Brigid Duffy and Geneva Milch Cesoni led the Black Knights with two goals and one assist.
