No. 1 Navy Downs No. 2 Army West Point to Claim Second Straight Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse Title

Navy’s Alyssa Chung scores a team-high five goals to earn Tournament MVP honors

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Sophomore attacker Alyssa Chung scored five goals to lead top-seeded Navy (18-1, 8-1 PL) to a 17-11 victory over No. 2 Army West Point (14-4, 8-1 PL) to claim its second straight Patriot League Women’s Lacrosse title at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
 
Chung earned Patriot League Championship MVP honors with her second straight five-goal game. She recorded 12 points in two tournament games, after posting seven points on five goals and two assists in a semifinal-round win over No. 4 Bucknell.
 
Junior midfielder Mikayla Williams joined Chung on the All-Tournament Team, recording a team-high seven points on four goals and three assists against Army West Point. Williams scored all four goals in the second quarter to help the Mids outscore the Black Knights, 6-1 to build a six-goal advantage by halftime. Junior goalkeeper Felicia Giglio made six saves, and senior midfielder Maggie DeFabio posted two goals and two assists to earn spots on the All-Tournament Team.
 
Army West Point senior midfielder Brigid Duffy earned All-Tournament honors for the second time in her career after posting a game-high eight points with seven goals and one assist. Duffy’s seven goals were one shy of the Patriot League Championship single-game record. Senior attacker Allison Reilly and senior defender Sarah Chernik joined Duffy on the All-Tournament Team.
 
Loyola Maryland junior midfielder Delaney Jackson and freshman Mae Murphy, and Bucknell senior attacker Megan Krestinski and senior defender Jess Leon were also named to the 11-member Patriot League All-Tournament Team.
 
Navy will learn its postseason fate, along with Army West Point and Loyola Maryland when the field of 29 is announced during the 2026 NCAA DI Women’s Lacrosse Selection Show on Sunday, May 3. Live coverage of the selection show is available on ESPNU at 9 p.m. ET.

*Chung posted her second straight five-goal game to earn Patriot League Championship MVP honors, while junior midfielder Mikayla Williams posted a team-high seven points on four goals and three assists.
*Williams scored all four of her goals in the second quarter to help the Mids outscore the Black Knights, 6-1, to take a six-goal lead into halftime.

HOW IT HAPPENED
*Navy’s Emma Kennedy scored quickly on an assist from Chloe Brown to put the Mids in front 1-0 at the 13:20 mark in the first quarter, but Duffy answered less than two minutes later.
*The Mids took a 4-3 lead by the end of the first quarter with four different Navy players finding the back of the net. Duffy scored two of the Black Knights’ three goals.
*Navy’s Williams scored three goals during a 5-0 run to open the second quarter to build a 9-3 lead. She finished with four goals in the second quarter.
*Army’s Duffy broke up the Mids’ 5-0 run with a goal at the 3:18 mark in the second quarter. It would be the Black Knights’ lone goal of the frame.
*Navy and Army West Point traded goals through the first nine minutes of the third quarter before Duffy and senior attacker Lily Valentini scored back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to five goals.
*Navy’s Brown ended the run at the 3:36 mark, and Miles scored her second goal of the game less than one minute later to extend the Mids’ lead seven, at 14-7.
*The Mids’ DeFabio added a free-position goal with 59.3 seconds remaining in the third quarter to give Navy an eight-goal lead at 15-7.
*After a Duffy goal to open the fourth quarter, Chung scored twice in just over one minute to give the Mids their largest lead of the game, at 17-8.
*Duffy scored three of her game-high seven goals in the fourth, including two of the final three goals of the game, making the final score 17-11.
*Navy’s offense scored 17 goals on 30 shots, including 22 on goal.
