BOSTON, Mass. — Top-seeded Boston University and No. 2 Colgate advanced to the 2026 Patriot League Softball Championship round after victories on Friday.
The Terriers advanced through the winner’s bracket with a 3-1 victory over No. 3 Army West Point after Kasey Ricard pitched a complete game to lead Boston University to the win.
No. 2 Colgate earned two victories in the consolation bracket, taking down Lafayette, 10-5, behind the bats of junior outfielder Nora Megenity and sophomore infielder Analisa Raffaelli. The Raiders took down Army West Point, 4-2, to advance to the 2026 Patriot League Softball Championship round.
The Terriers will seek their ninth Patriot League title since joining the League in 2014 and will look to become the first team to win four consecutive Patriot League softball championships since Lehigh accomplished the feat from 1993-96.
For Colgate, they are looking to earn their fourth career Patriot League title and first since 2007. This is the Raiders’ first championship round appearance since 2011.
Due to inclement weather in the forecast for Saturday, the first game of the Patriot League Softball Championship round will begin at 10 a.m. at BU Softball Field. If Colgate wins the opening game, a winner-take-all contest will follow at 12:30 p.m. at BU Softball Field.
The Patriot League champion will earn the League’s automatic berth to the 2026 NCAA Division I Softball Championship. The NCAA Selection Show will air Sunday, May 10, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

*Boston University got on the board in the top of the first inning after junior outfielder Sophie Naviar hit a two-out RBI single to right field for a 1-0 lead.
*The Terriers increased their lead to 2-0 after sophomore outfielder Camryn Lyons drove in junior Kylie Doherty with a single to right field before senior pitcher Amanda Eaglin came on in relief of Breanna Izzo for Army West Point.
*Boston University added another run in the top of the third inning on a two-out RBI single by junior infielder Kyomi Apalit to take a 3-0 lead.
*Senior pitcher Kasey Ricard anchored the Terriers in the circle through four innings, keeping the Black Knights scoreless while working out of traffic on the bases.
*Army West Point scored its first run in the bottom of the seventh inning after senior oMia Bonsignore doubled to right-center field to score Breanna Coonfare.
*The Terriers’ defense made back-to-back defensive plays to seal the game as first-year infielder Madolyn Coupal made a diving catch at third base before senior infielder Brooke Deppiesse recorded the final out with a backhanded stop.
*Ricard earned the win after pitching a complete game, striking out seven batters while allowing just one run. She also became Boston University’s career strikeout leader with 911.

*Lafayette got on the board early in the bottom of the first inning, as Colgate walked in two runs before freshman Jessica Tejera and senior ouitfielder Olivia Catalina recorded RBI singles to give the Leopards a 4-0 lead.
*The Colgate offense came alive in the top of the third inning, as junior outfielder Nora Megenity homered to right field on the first pitch of the at-bat before first-year infielder Marina Taveras added an RBI single to tie the game at 4-4.
*Megenity struck again in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single through the right side to give the Raiders a 5-4 lead.
*Colgate extended its lead to 7-4 after sophomore infielder Annalisa Raffaelli hit a two-run home run to left field.
*The Leopards trimmed the deficit to 7-5 after senior infielder Regan Dillon singled through the left side to score sophomore Caroline Hall.
*The Raiders extended their lead to 9-5 in the top of the seventh inning when Megenity and Raffaelli recorded back-to-back RBIs. Colgate tacked on one more run on a sacrifice fly to right field by Taveras.
*Megenity and Raffaelli combined for seven hits, five runs and eight RBIs to lead the Raiders’ offense.

*Colgate struck first in the top of the second inning when sophomore catcher Lily Haluska hit a home run to left field to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead. Colgate added another run later in the inning on a wild pitch.
*Army West Point senior pitcher Breanna Izzo and Colgate senior pitcher Maya Servedio anchored their teams in the circle, each tossing three consecutive scoreless innings.
*The Raiders extended their lead to 4-0 after scoring on another wild pitch before senior designated player Alexa Acker added a sacrifice fly to right field.
*The Black Knights got on the board in the seventh inning after senior infielders Taylor Brown and Ashton White delivered RBI singles in back-to-back at-bats.
*Colgate sophomore infielder Annalisa Raffaelli ended the game by turning a running double play to clinch the Raiders’ spot in the championship round.
