BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Army West Point and Holy Cross each claimed two Patriot League women’s soccer weekly awards, when the League office announced the honors on Monday. Bucknell collected the remaining weekly accolade.
Bucknell junior Presley Sutter earned Patriot League Women’s Soccer Forward of the Week honors after totaling five points in the Bison’s 2-0 week, which included her first career two-goal game in Thursday’s 8-1 rout of Mount St. Mary’s.
Holy Cross’ Sam Halligan totaled seven points in a 2-0 week to be named the Patriot League Women’s Soccer Midfielder of the Week. The fifth-year midfielder recorded two goals and an assist in a 3-2 win over Stonehill, before scoring the game-winning goal in the 62nd minute of a 1-0 victory against Brown on Sunday.
Army West Point’s Ailyn Rowe scored her first career goal and helped the Black Knights to victories over William & Mary (3-2) and Vermont (3-0) to earn Patriot League Women’s Soccer Defender of the Week honors.
Crusaders’ junior Antriana Mila was honored as the Patriot League Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week after totaling 12 saves and her first career shutout in Holy Cross’ 2-0 week.
Black Knights’ freshman midfielder Kamryn McWhinney was selected as the Patriot League Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week. McWhinney tallied three goals in a pair of Army West Point victories, including a brace in a 3-2 win over William & Mary on Thursday.
Honorable mentions went to Army West Point junior midfielder Bella Conti, junior goalkeeper Karalyn Dail and sophomore forward Sophia Henry, Bucknell sophomore defender Emma Gavin, freshman goalkeeper Sarah McFarland and freshman midfielder Ingrid Murphy, and Holy Cross senior forward Abigail Cushing.
The Patriot League women’s soccer players of the week are selected in a vote by League head coaches, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.
